Whatever you do don't use 2wire. I have had three complaints about their service in the last month. Getting drivers on their website is terrible.

Netgear wn2000 states mover closer to router?

This message means your extender is too far away from your wireless router to make a good connection. Repeaters must be within a good signal range for the connection to work properly.

If you have a wifi enabled phone, tablet, or laptop, you can walk around your home and see where the signal reaches and how well. Repeaters should be placed where you still receive full or close to full signal.

Repeaters may have issues if the wireless router is on another floor, behind metal, or too far away.

I got a wireless network connection home but the modem and router are both upstairs while my ps3 is downstairs. i bought wireless-g range expander model no. wre54g in order to expand my wireless network...

Hello
This not a big deal for a wireless network to work on downstairs, you need to check your connection and settings of the routers/computers. or just put a repeater for improvement of signal strength.
If the matter is signal strength, for the purpose see the TIP link below

I have sat. internet at my home, which is 500 to 600 feet from my business. How do I get a better signal to my business. Right now, I get about 15% outside the building, which by the way is a metal...

I use Netgear dg834g and linksys wireless-G routers (blue and black) or modem/routers as these give the best signals ove long distances.

Also the edimax usb dongle has incredible connections for me over long distance

I also put in static LAN IP addresses and these help with connection

Loose connection with router

There must be something that has been introduced to your area that is causing distortion in your WiFi signal. 802.11 or WiFi is very susceptible to noise or signal distortion and can come from many things from interfering objects to other wireless signals such as Wireless phones. There are also many other things that can cause signal distortion I would look to see if you have added anything new around the time the unit lost signal. If your unit is working properly when you are closer to the router than this has to be the problem. Range is a big iffy factor when messing with WiFi.

Having Problem Acquiring IP Address

when using the range extender you have to make sure you set the SSID, channel & wireless key in the range extender the exact same as the router also it has to be in the same IP range so if the router IP address is 192.168.0.1 the range extender IP address has to change from 192.168.1.240 to 19.168.0.240. Hope that helps.

Move the repeater directly next to the router, connect to the repeater with a laptop/desktop and enter the configuration utility, see if you are even able to establish a "signal" status. If not, you may have a defective product or extreme amounts of emi.
