Question about HP PC Desktops

1 Answer

I have a new HP computer. The desktop, and homepages for IE and mozilla firefox all fit on the screen. Any other place I go like ebay or Amazon from either home page, the screen is too large to fit on the monitor and has to be moved with the bars both up and down. I've tied going in to settings and changing resolutions but that makes the desktop and homepages screwed up. HELP!! PLEASE!!!

Thats normal, if a web page is bigger than the screen a scroll bar appears so you can move it up and down.

I keep getting a message that "a problem caused the program to stop working properly. Windows will close program and notify you if solution is found." Its Internet Explorer and no solution has come!

To be quite honest I have found that this happens quite a lot with IE. If you want or need to continue using IE, then make sure that you have the most up-to-date version by checking with the MS website here:
Internet Explorer
and if you are not fully up-to-date, download and install the latest version for your Windows version.
Alternatively you could use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, both of which are more stable than IE. If you go to the google search homepage, there is a link to download chrome there and you can download Firefox from here:
Download Firefox Free Web Browser
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya

Set homepage

I am assuming that you are talking about your browser being set to a specific homepage for you to go to as soon as you open up the browser of your choice to browse the internet. The problem is that you did not label the browser type that you are using so it is difficult to give you step by step instructions. When asking questions here it is best if you can describe the entire problem that you are having and the appropriate details to receive the appropriate help (IE browser in this case, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, ETC...).

Adobe flash plug in has been crushed

If the flash player has crashed once, then it may not be a problem but if this is occurring repeatedly, then try to upgrade your flash player. If your flash player is up-to-date, then it may be the incompatibility between the flash player and the web-browser. In that case, try to have both the most recent updated browsers, like Mozilla Firefox 4, Google Chrome 12 or IE 8 or IE 9 and corresponding updated flash player.

To download latest softwares, click on the links below:
  1. Adobe Flash Player IE (for Internet Explorer, Avant, etc)
  2. Adobe Flash Player Non-IE (for Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, etc)
  3. Mozilla Firefox 4 RC
  4. Google Chrome 12 Beta
If you use Firefox or Chrome as browser, then Flash Player for Non-IE is sufficient, but still I recommend you to install both the IE and Non-IE flash players.

Hope this helps,

Facebook won't pull up

If you are using Internet Explorer, I'd try downloading a different browser such as Mozilla Firefox. I'm not bashing IE, but by downloading a different browser, it will isolate the problem letting you know if it's a problem with IE or something bigger.

If it works with the new browser, you should reset your IE settings in Tools<Internet Options. Click on the Advanced tab, then click "Reset".

Good Luck!

Fixing my homepage

I'm assuming you mean to say that you are wanting your browser's default page (the page it opens to) to be set to

Using IE:

Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> General , there in the box available for home page type in the address of the website you want as your home page.

Using Mozilla (Firefox):
Go to Tools -> Options ->Main , there in the box type in the address of your favorite web site.
