First option - If you are using Windows OS plug the USB plug to the USB panel of your PC and the other end of the printer cable to your printer. Your PC detects your printer. Install the drivers needed for your printer to work. Insert the installation disk that comes with the printer to your CDRom drive. Install when asks to. After installation, restart your PC.
After restarting to check if your printer is connected click >start< go to >control panel< double-click> System<click>Hardware<click>Device Manager and see if your printer is there.
Second option - if still your printer is not detected by your PC try unplugging from the USB slot and insert it to another USB slot and follow the first option
Third option - if the first and second option does not work, use a different printer cable. The cable that comes with the printer might be defective.
