First option - If you are using Windows OS plug the USB plug to the USB panel of your PC and the other end of the printer cable to your printer. Your PC detects your printer. Install the drivers needed for your printer to work. Insert the installation disk that comes with the printer to your CDRom drive. Install when asks to. After installation, restart your PC.
After restarting to check if your printer is connected click >start< go to >control panel< double-click> System<click>Hardware<click>Device Manager and see if your printer is there.
Second option - if still your printer is not detected by your PC try unplugging from the USB slot and insert it to another USB slot and follow the first option
Third option - if the first and second option does not work, use a different printer cable. The cable that comes with the printer might be defective.

My HP Laserjet 1020 powers on but now it's not recognized by my computer anymore. What happened & how can I get it to reconnect?

The solution to this problem is as simple as disconnecting your printer, going into CONTROL PANEL / PRINTERS AND SCANNERS, right click on the icon for your laser printer, then select "remove." Once you have removed the printer in the Control Panel, plug the printer back into your USB port, power it on, and it should plug & play from there.

Usb device not recognised lexmark s405, tried all advice listed in google pages except petrol & lighter.

Have you tried using another USB cable? You can also try plugging the printer in to a different USB port in your computer.

Also, try to plug in the printer to a different computer, if it works then there's a problem with the USB port of your computer. If it still doesn't recognize the printer, it could be the USB cable that's causing the problem or the USB port of your printer. If that's the case and your printer is still under warranty, contact our technical support team to have the printer replaced. You can find the contact number at our site: www.lexmark.com.

I am pluging the wire from the my handycam to laptop but the laptop is not reading it

Try going to the web site for the maker of the camera - download and install the drivers for your operating system. THEN plug in the cable. If this is a USB cable - also try a different cable and a different USB port.

I have a HP LJ P2015n. Should be on our network

Hi,
As i understand your concern you have network printer which you want to setup with your network. And right now your printer is connected with the computer using a usb be cable. Thats the main reason why it is having different ip address because it don't required any ip address once you tried to connect your printer through usb cable. I can suggest you that once you connect your printer on the network and you will get the option to network setup on your printer where you can assigned static ip to you printer which is the range for your router or network device called DHCP.

I believe that will help your resolve your concern.

Unable to connect printer to pc

Ok this may sound silly but I had exactly the same problem with a Cannon, tried new cords from the same Computer shop and other PC's with no success, now for the good news, by chance I tried another brand of USB printer cord bought from BIG W and it burst into life. So I suggest try another brand. Also make sure your computer USB port is set for USB 2.
