Try the power button. Find out which two wires are attached to the power button and remove those from the system board. Check the resistance with a multimeter, should be 1 with the button not pressed and 0 with it pressed. Or, you can short those two pins on the motherboard with a screwdriver and see if the computer comes on and stay on.

How do I stop Acid Pro 7 from crashing on Windows 8.1?

The only "problem" is Acid finding SampleTank 2 when I try to open projects created on xp / win7. Because it's 32bit it installed in (x86). The file path seems to be the issue (since "x86" is not in the file path on xp/7) but other IK apps open fine with xp/7 files and SampleTank 2 opens fine in new projects. if file path consistency is to be maintained a 64bit version is needed...?

I have a HP Media Center PC m1264n desktop.I can turn it on and 1 minute or maybe 5 to 10 minutes into it,it will just shut down, but the power led light on the front of the PC stays on.I reboot it and it...

Is it going to sleep or is it actually shutting down? Do you have to push the power button to turn it back on? Just a thought - if you have Windows 7, go to Start, Control Panel, then System and Security. Now check 'Change when the computer sleeps' under Power Options. Under Edit Plan Settings, what do you have for 'Put the computer to sleep'. Does '20 minutes' show up in the box? Open it and change it to 'Never' and then Save changes. If this didn't help you, maybe someone else can.

It's your NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS graphics card. There a design flaw that I can't find out if it's been corrected. Customer support only replaces the motherboard with the same problem. They won't sell just the GPU card off the main board. This has been pissing me off for 3 or 4 months now. Can't seem to get any help from anybody.

Check for the following settings:
1. Power saving feature
2. Is the system configured for sleep or hibernate?
3. Try restoring the system back to factory defaults (backup the files you need to keep first)

Note: Try to include the following information every time you request for support for your computer:
1. Brand Name (Acer, Dell, HP, IBM etc.)
2. Operating System (XP, Vista, Linux, MacOS, etc.)
3. Any recent changes made (installations, updates, upgrades, etc)
4. Any error mesages?

Turn off actomatically, cannot turn on so far.

Your battery may be too low to allow charging it and "starting" your computer at rhe same time.

Remove the battery and clean the contacts on the battery and the laptop.
1. Plug in the laptop power adapter with no battery in the laptop.
2. Turn ON computer. It should stay turned on.
3. After Windows settles, insert battery.
4. The computer will stay powered on.
5. Allow to charge.

A possible expansion card failure has occurred

  1. Determine whether a conflict exists by removing a card and restarting the computer.
  2. If the problem persists, reinstall the card that you removed, remove a different card, and then restart the computer.
  3. Repeat this process for each card. If the computer starts normally, troubleshoot the last card removed from the computer for resource conflicts (see "Resolving Software and Hardware Compatibilities" in your computer Owner's Manual).
  4. If the problem persists, contact Dell for technical assistance.
