Smart failure.. bootmgr is missing..I have recovery discs but dvd player is not working

Yes, you can make USB boot drive. However main problem is the Smart... error. It is your hard drive. You need to fix that first! Try reseating the drive. Next go into BIOS by pressing F key during boot. Might be F2? Make sure BIOS recognizes the hard drive.

Once you get the drive going again, you can start the install / repair again. USB drive tool.

Hey there,Im pretty sure this is becuase one of 2 reasons:
Possiblity 1:That you have not inserted your video card correctly and some adjusting to its position on your motherboard should help(or even another pci slot if possible)

Possiblity 2:That the Card is not compatible With your system which is unlikley..

''BOOTMGR is missing'' I can't boot from Windows XP CD

Open cpu cabinet and Refix RAM some times bootable files not load on ram properly so this error comes.
So refix RAM memory clean dust from circuit and RAM .
Also pull cmos cell from motherbord for 5 minutes so all settings are defaults then check.

Graphics card causing system to shut down?

Please go into the BIOS of the system and Set the BIOS as default
  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the computer first starts, it performs the power-on self test (POST). This test checks that all connected devices are functioning. As part of the POST, the memory is checked. During the memory test, a message will appear that tells you how to access the BIOS. For example, you may see the following message or a similar message that explains how to start the BIOS setup: PRESS DEL TO ENTER SETUPIn this example, you must press the DEL key immediately after the memory test is finished to start the setup process. You may have to press the key several times to make sure that you access the BIOS setup.

Tip There are other keys that may provide access to the BIOS. They include the following:
    • F1
    • F2
    • F10
    • CTRL+ENTER
    • ALT+ENTER
    • CTRL+ALT+ESC
    • CTRL+ALT+INSERT
If you are not sure how to access the BIOS setup, see the user manual for your computer's motherboard.
  3. Look for the Set BIOS as Default settings. You can usually use the arrow keys to move through the menus and settings.
Do that and then try to

Press (F1) to resume, (F10) to setup

I need a bit more info to try to give you an accurate solution

Does the screen change after you press "F1" ?

Do you have access to an external keyboard, if so try plugging that in while the computer is off and then using that to press "F1"
