Question about Polaroid a300 Digital Camera

1 Answer

My camera won't turn on

All of a sudden my camera doesn't turn on, I tried charging it but the charger isn't working, the red light keeps flashing. When I connet the USB cable to the charger and computer, it lets me review my pictures and shows that I have a full battery but once I take it off the charger, I can't turn my camera on again. I just bought the camera 6 months ago so it's fairly new. My Polaroid a300 camera won't come on either. I just got it about two years ago and it's been working exellent. One day I dropped it while outside and immediately after, it would not come on. I push the power button and the green "on" button comes on for about 10seconds and goes back off. No screen appears or anything. It's been like this for two weeks and I'm on vacation and really want some pictures. I even plugged the USB into the computer to se if the camera comes on, but it does the same exact thing and the computer doesn't seem to rcognize it anymore.

Hey GClooney,
Most cameras come with a 1 year manufacturers warranty so the first camera is most likely covered by this and I would have it looked at by an authorized service technician. If you dropped you Polaroid a300 camera then there is most likely internal damage and that should also be addressed by an authorized service technician. I will say that digital camera repairs often exceed the value of the camera, but the first camera repair would most likely be covered by its warranty. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Hi, I'd suggest using a wall charger as they're able to provide more power to charge then a computers USB port. Often with camera's the USB port doesn't supply enough power so the camera doesn't charge at all.

Screen black. Power light on unit flashes red slowly. Power light on switching adaptor power supply flashed green slowly.

Sounds like the battery might be low which would cause the red flashing light and dark screen. Let it charge for a little bit then try turning it on again. If it still does it with the power supply plugged in, make sure there isn't a lens cover on it, and switch modes or try getting into the menu to see if you can get anything to come up. If that still doesn't work then it sounds like there might be a problem with the camera.

The camera won.t turn on the battery charger blinks red when trying to charge both of my battreies

I had the same problem with flashing red light on my charging dock (within 10 sec after 2nd green light came on). I did fix it. There is a rust brown securing tab that holds the battery in place. Mine must have a broken spring..... So, I put the battery into my camera, pushed securing tab over the battery and then wedged a toothpick tip to keep battery tab in place. Once back on the charger, I had no more flashing red light. The battery is charging correctly. The problem was that the battery was not held down into place correctly. I now just have to unwedge the toothpick tip to remove the battery...but not really an issue at all as I keep the battery in there all the time. Very easy fix!!!
Others suggested to reseat the plastic dock. But mine was secure. Somewhere there is not a good battery connection that is causing the red flashing light. I am thankful to figure it out. Hope this helps you.

WON"T WORK

sounds like a dead battery. Plug the origional charger into it and the front led (below the flash) should flash red. If the red led in the back of the camera flashes or stays lit, then you have the wrong charger plugged in. (the camera won't power up if the back red/green led is on when plugged in)

Battery will not hold a charge.

Casio says:

Red blinking light = defective battery

No flashing light = possible defective charger.

What you can do is send all your stuff into casio and they will test everything for you and see what they could replace for you.

Red light flashes and LCD turns off and on

A quick test would be to purchase a set of Duracell Ultra Digital batteries and try them. They won?t last for very long; however, if they make the red light go away then you problem is either the batteries you are using or the charger. More often than not its going to be the batteries so we?ll start there: Check your batteries, you should be using Nickel metal hydride (Ni-ME) that are rated at 1450 (I use 2500) mAh or better. If the batteries are more than one year and you?ve used them a lot then its likely the batteries just aren?t holding a charge anymore. Purchase a new set or borrow a working set from a friend. Charge them in your charger and try in your camera, if the red LED goes away use the batteries till they need charging again. Charge them in your charger and if the red LED stays off then the batteries were the problem. If the red LED returns then try charging your batteries in someone else?s working NiME charger. Put them in your camera and if the red LED goes away then your charger is the fault.
