The battery went dead when I tryed to start in cold weather,I removed the battery and charged it back up, However when I put the battery back in the car started and ran for about five minutes when it shut down. On further checking I found a 60 amp fuse which said battery had blown. I installed a new fuse and as soon as i installed it also blew. I removed the battery again and checked the voltage and it gave me 13 volts. at this point I am baffled.

You have a dead short across that fuse, The end opposite the battery will probably show a ground rather than a resistive load. You are going to have to find that short and fix it. A dead short on a 60 Amp fuse is a heavy load. That fuse is probably preventing a fire or melted harness wires.

Hyundai tucson will not start

if this only happens after rainy weather, I would change your wires and coil or coil pack, I would go for the wires first since its the cheapest thing, also if that doesnt do the trick try jumping it , if it starts check the output from the alternator to make sure its putting out at least 12 volts or higher, you will need a multi meter to do this

If the altenator shows good, what would cause a new battery to go dead over night?

Hello,
An open circuit, ( an electrical short ), could cause it.

A bad connection at the battery terminals could cause it, not only can a bad connection prevent the vehicle from starting, it also prevents the alternator from putting a charge back in to the battery.

Often the battery cable clamps can crack on the bottom side and prevent the clamps from being tight enough for a good connection.

Also, very common in cold weather, even with a brand new battery, the new battery may not have the minimum cold cranking amps, ( MCCA ), to start an engine in the cold weather. You may want to make sure, if you already haven't, that your battery meets the manufacturer's MCCA requirement.

I hope this helps you.

When the weather is very cold (below zero) the car will not even try to turn over it wil only click at the starter and ignition no turn battery is fine never does this any other time. only cold, but once...

It is normal for batteries to lose a good deal of their power due to cold temperatures. If you want better starting power, try using a battery charger/maintainer overnight. It should charge at no more than 2 amps. The slow trickle charging overnight will charge and warm up the battery and allow it to develop full power for a cold morning start.

What causes a 97 yukon to go dead going down the road and hard to crank during cold weather... and has white smoke coming from tailpipes

If you have a failing alternator that could cause the vehicle to die while you're going down the road.
Also, the voltage regulator, ( usually in the alternator ) can not put a suficient amount of cahrge back in to the battery to charge it to it's peak. This could cause the vehicle to be hard to start in cold weather.

White smoke is usually associated with a bad fuel/air mix ratio. Because of the difference in humidity with the cold air it is not uncommon to see some white smoke from the tailpipes.

I hope this helps you.

Dont know if altinater is my problem or not?

Well the first thing that I need to know is how long did it sit when you shut it off before you tried to restart it. Also have you checked to see how much the alternator is charging at your battery. It should be around 14 volts to your battery. I need to know this information first before we can try to fix your problem. Let me know what the results of the alternator test were.

Battery drained dead in ocld weather

Could be both batteries went bad.
1) I would take battery back to where you bought it and have them test.
2) Check, or have someone check, that battery power is not being used when the key is off and the car is not being used in any way. There will be a slight trickle of power use, but nothing that would wear the battery down in less than 3-4 weeks.
