yes I have tried resetting it and it doesn't solve the sound problem. I'm hesitant to reformat the whole thing b/c then I have to put all my music back on etc. But maybe that is the only solution?

I have the same problem, everything works, even the click sound, but there is no sound coming out of the headphone jack. I have tried multiple pairs of headphones, even a dock that plugs into the bottom of the ipod. I have reset the thing every which way. Basically, the only thing I can think of is to replace the logic board. Unless I find some magic new fix, I'm going to have to drop the $75 and see if that works....

Cant hear songs

It sounds like your headphone/hold cable is faulty. Try plugging it into a sound device with a docking bay. If no sound comes out of there either then it's a faulty logic board.

Try it on another computer and if it happens its the ipod. Or try restalling itunes with the lates version (7.7.1)
