Question about Minolta Fax Machines

2 Answers

Sirs, I have a Minoltafax 1800 fax machine. I can not get it to connect when I am dialing long distance. I can receive faxes from long distance, but when I dial, including the suffix "1" for long distance, the other end never picks up. I have even tried dialing without using the "1" and it comes up with the line on the other end being busy. Can you help me please! Thanks, Lance Mueller Ph. #604-996-8205

The machine is on a dedicated line - it may share the line with our DSL internet connection, but that is it.

Any other suggestions? We moved about a year ago and started having problems after that.

    Thanks,

    Lance

Verify that senders are dialing the correct number and you are providing the sender with the correct fax number for your unit. If you have a second telephone number at your location or cell phone, you can test the number yourself. Dial your fax number from the second telephone number or cell phone as if you are sending a fax. If you hear ringing on the phone you are dialing from, press the Hook or Speaker Phone key or pick up the external telephone handset. If you hear a dial tone, this indicates there is a problem with the line or the telephone number and you will need to contact your local telephone company for assistance.

Hope that helps........

OK if that's the case you can also try asking the people that are sending you the fax message if they can contact your number...

Why is there no dial tone?

Connect a telephone in place of your fax machine. Listen for a dial tone. If you hear it, something is wrong with your fax machine connection.

Why is it when I am sending a long distance fax to another state I receive a code that says G3.

There are several reasons this could be happening.
  1. Does your office allow for long distance dialing and if it does, do you need to "Dial 9" or some code before dialing long distance?
  2. Have you dialed "1" before the area code?
  3. Is the area code correct?
These are the most common reasons why you would get a long distance error while faxing. Hope you find this useful.

Having problems with long distance fax transmissions - receiving number not receiving fax. Fax machine: Brother MFC-8220.

Is the 1 placed infront of the number, is the line part of a PBX system requiring to dial a 9 to get a outside line.

Faxing with a long distance code

after you dial the number you hit the pause button (usually 1-2 times) then dial additional numbers.

basically everytime you need the machine to wait for something to happen you need to hit pause

example: i have to dial five digit access code for my fax for LD calls it would be dialed on fax like this

1-234-567-8901 pause pause 12345 start

Cannot receive faxes

What is the make and model?

Call the fax machine from a regular phone to see if it answers.

I think you have some sort of phone line problem.

Fax machine modems are good or bad, nothing in-between.

Can't send out fax

Make sure the phone cord is connected to fax machine in the place marked LINE, then make sure the phone cord is connected to the wall jack. Pick up your handset and make sure you have a clear dial tone also. If you are dialing long distance make sure you have the long distance service.
