What do you mean it goes out? if there is no power you need to get a new one, but if your refering your internet connection goes out. You need to call your internet service provider for opening the port for your 2wire. 2wire has its own firewall so you need to open it
On your 2wire router is model number, below that is another set of numbers, from network connections select your 2 wire router, then connect. it will ask you for a password, The password is the set of numbers below the Model No.
First of all change your router to WPA rather than WEP. WEP is easily cracked now and is not secure. That might be what your laptop is looking at.
Secondly, update the wireless drivers to the current version from the website.
Make sure your router is broadcasting on 'auto' (802.11a/b/g, and N if supported), It ay be broadcasting only on, say 11g and your laptop doesn't support it. Updating the wireless drivers may also fix this.

1. Unplug the modem, router and turn off the computer.
2. Plug the modem in and wait 5 minutes.
3. Plug the router back in.
4. Turn the computer back on.
