The usb ports in the C series Latitudes don't have the power to support some of the newer external drives, so you may not be able to get rid of the error without going to an older external, or a newer laptop. I'm stuck with a new WD 250g external that my C series won't support. I figure I'll hang onto it, then breakdown and buy a new machine at the day after Thanksgiving day sale.

Most Windows CD\DVD's are bootable, but if you are referring to a USB bootable, then you will need software like : http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msus/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool/
You will have to have access to the Windows install disc to create, and may have to create it on other computer. gl

Laptop Model : HP Pavilion DV 4-1509tx Recovery Disk Run then setup begening but 35% setup then Disk 2 input .36% setup complete then error message Erroe code 0xe0ef000e

It's possible that the process was trying to write to your disk-drive, and hit a "bad" spot on the drive, and could not write.
If the disk-drive is more than 3 years old, buy and install a replacement disk-drive, and then try again to "recover".

Media read error check cable

Your computer tries to boot from various devices:
* CD-ROM
* disk-drive
* USB memory-stick
* 3.5" diskette
* network

in some order that has been configured (either at the factory, or by you, during BIOS SETUP).

So, if there is no media in the CD-ROM, no media in the diskette drive, no connected USB drive, then it will boot from either the network (if there is a network-cable that is connected to a "boot-server" system) or from the disk-drive.

So, is your disk-drive getting power?
Is the "data" cable between the motherboard and the disk-drive connected?
Is the disk-drive "dead" (not spinning) ?

Check your disk-drive.

You may need to purchase a new disk-drive, connect it, and reinstall Windows.

I have a dell XPS 1330 and my dvd drive is not reading the DVD.

lol. not too much info to go on there....

1) is the disk disgustingly filthy?

2) is the drive clogged with a pb&j sandwich?

3) is it a dvd drive...probably is.

4) double check that the computer can read other disks besides that one, and if not there may be a more serious problem.

solutions:

try running a disk cleaner in the drive, its a cd with a little brush on it for sweeping dust off the lens

buy a 3-4 dollar can of compressed air and spray a bit of that inside to clean out the dust and stuff, MAKING SURE TO FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY as cans of compressed air can mess stuff up real easily if used wrong.

good luck!
