Question about Brother ML-100 Typewriter

1 Answer

Correction Tape I have Brother ML 100 Standard typewriter in my office and I'm trying to replace the correction tape. I'm inserting the tape as instructed by the manual and I can see that the tape is lifting and the machine is tying on it as if to correct mis-types, but the corrector 'paste' (for lack of a better word) is not rubbing off? I'm using a datamonitor product. What's wrong?

Two possibilities, one the correction tape is twisted and the wrong side is .facing the paper. The shinny side should be facing you, the dull side facing the paper. Second possibility you must make sure the ribbon is compatible with the correction tape. There are 2 types of ribbons. A correctable one (orange or yellow knob) and a multi strike (blue or purple knob on ribbon cartridge). The lift off correction tape (orange or yellow spools) only works with the correctable ribbon and the cover up correction tape (blue) works with the multistrike ribbon.

The correction tap will not pick up all ink?

When the correction dosen't work the ribbon and or the correction tape are old. Put a fresh ribbon and correction tape on. Not one that has been sitting on the shelf for years.

correction tapes will not work with multistrike ribbons. You have to use a correctable ribbon. If you can find a white out tape, it will work with multistrike. What model typewroter do you have?
