You may have something stuck in it.
try a long needle and insert it into a small hole on the front of cd when you do it should go in about 2 inches and stop press it in and cd should open check for anything that could be blocking it

Acer aspire desktop cd rom will not open. When button is pressed, a nois can be heard but tray does not open.

It must be hardware problem with the CD rom. There are few gears inside the unit with some plastic levers that regulate opening and closing of the Tray. If the problem persists, you will need to repair or replace the CD rom. In the meantime, as a temporary solution, straighten a paper clip (a a long needle), push in through the tiny hole just below the tray while you press the eject (Open) button. You'll need to press inside the pin/clip with possible force and it will automatically eject out. Push in the pin/needle straight, you don't need to find anything inside the hole, just push it straight in.

Cd rom drawer on dell laptop won't open

hello, have you tried going into "My Computer" then right clicking on cd drive and click "Eject"? if not, try that.
if you have then take a thin paper clip open up one side of it so its straight.
After you have paper clip straighten up look carefully around the cd rom's eject button and you will notice a tiny hole.
Take the paper clip and keeping it straight slowly and gently insert in the hole and soon you will feel little resistance push it a little bit more and that should eject your CD rom.
if it opens up leave the cd rom open and reboot your laptop once and see if your drive now work normally and ejects the way it should?

hope this helps, post back if you have issues.

Kind regards,

Amar Sondhi

CD-ROM not opening

The eject mechanism is driven by a seperate belt. You'r's is worn or broken, however, there is a small pinhole in the face of the player that you may stick a paperclip into and the tray will open.

The door on my cd rom cant not open when i eject, i dont hear the motor but the light shine just at start up

Look on the front of your cd-rom, there should be a small hole somewhere just under the tray portion. Turn off your machine (to avoid possible short-circuit issues) and use a thin piece of wire (ie: a straightened paper clip) and insert it into this hole. Push it gently, you will be able to feel the unit unlocking itself and the tray will open slightly. Now you can use your fingers to pull the tray open. Be gentle when opening, you don't want to mess up the gearing.

yes frn this is happen due to the jam in the DVD rom. when you press the eject button put one pin in the hole that is just below the eject button. so that you can eject your DVD. or just hit the cd ROM slowly.

Make sure you feel some resistance when pushing, also try by going to My Computer, righ-click the CDRom and select eject (in case the eject button is broken.

DVD/CD ROM does not open

There should be a small hole on the front panel of the DVD-ROM. Take a paper clip and insert it into the hole and push to open the tray. If the DVD-ROM tray continues to malfunction, you'll need to replace it. DVD-ROMS run anywhere from $25.00 to $75.00.

Cd/dvd drive

You can see a hole located on the tray of the cd rom drive. Commonly seen beside the button to eject the cd out. Grab a small pin and push the hole and this should eject the tray. Close the tray again by pressing the button. Eject it using the button. If everything still failed, call up Dell to have the CD Rom Drive replaced.

CD Rom

Well...first lets make sure the drive still can physically open.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e40/freddyhard/CD13.jpg

There in the picture will show you where the manual eject button is. Use a paperclip and push the button in the hole. Once the drive is open enough for you to pull the tray, go ahead and pull it as far as it will come out. It will stop, and it shouldn't come all they way unattached from the rest of the unit.

Go ahead and take any cd or dvds that was in the drive out and turn your computer back on.

Once into windows, push the regular eject button and the drive should close the door itself. Let it sit for a second or two, and try hitting the eject button again. 9 times out of 10, that usually fixes my drives.

Hope this helps!
