Let me check the compatibility list and drivers.

  • Ginko
    Ginko Jul 18, 2008

    The ip1600 is compatible with

Windows 2000, Windows Vista 32bit, Windows Vista 64bit, Windows XP, Windows XP x64

On Vista the printer does not require additional driver.
Unplug printer from usb and connect to a different usb.
Let the printer install the files and allow the setup to make system change when asked by vista.
If the printer is not faulty it should work.

There is no driver because driver is built in in vista , but is not incompatible. Canon and Microsoft say IT IS compatible, then it is.

What do you mean by hardware, maybe you meant software? If thats the case you can go on canons website and download the driver for your printer with your operating system on the computer and follow instructions in the readme file.

Where i can find my printer's ip address

Your Printer's IP Address depends on the IP Address of your computer if it's connected to your computer via USB cable. So to check on the IP Address of your computer.

Windows XP
- click start
- click run
- type cmd
- type ipconfig on the black screen and press enter
- look for the ip address, if you see it the numbers beside it is the ip address

Windows Vista
- click pearl button (start)
- click start search box
- type cmd
- right click the black icon up the top of the window
- click on run as administrator
- click on continue
- type ipconfig on the black screen and press enter
- look for the ip address, if you see it, the numbers beside it is the ip address

If you are using CAT5 on the printer, the IP Address is on the setup menu of the printer. If you have the manual of the printer, it'll help you find it or you could provide us the Brand and model of your printer so we could look it out for you.

Is the Canon Pixma ip 1600 wireless? If so...

The ip1600 does not have any network connectors, wired or wireless. You need to connect the printer using the USB cable.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Printer status offline

I just ran into the same problem. The computers on the network that were running XP were showing the printer as "Ready", but all of the computers running Vista were showing the printer as "Offline".

After trying a number of solutions that I found on other message boards, I accidentally discovered that the problem was an IP address conflict. It seems that the server changed the address on the printer, which didn't bother the XP machines but brought the Vista machines to their knees.

Press and hold the blue button (HP called it the "Go" button) for 5 seconds, which will print a configuration report. In the TCP/IP section you will see the IP address for the printer. Next, open the Printers window, right-click on the P2015 and click Properties. Click the Ports tab. Find the port that is checked and click the "Configure Port..." button. If the "Printer Name or IP Address" field differs from the IP address on the configuration report, change it to the one on the report. It took a few seconds after hitting OK for the computer and prrinter to link up again, but that solved the problem for me.
