In saying this I may sound more like a little devil instead of the angel you're looking for. Go get an external web cam. This will be much easier than the headache you will have with the Acer built in. There are more problems with Acer's built in web cam than any other device on the market, and it's nor just limited to one or two models, it's every model. They actually released their Aspire 5000 series to the public, Vista only, before they had Vista compatible web cam drivers. The problem isn't with the cam itself, it's with the drivers and software that it needs in order to work properly. The software/drivers glitch and conflict with other components in the system. Every driver, software application, update, patch and fix are temporary and therefore worthless. Every time you get it back up and running, eventually it will (out of the blue) crash again, and what worked before to fix it may not work the next time. It's extremely frustrating, I know. Ive tried everything to get these up and working properly for my customers, and I've found that currently, until they come up with better drivers, the only true fix is an external. I'm sorry, I know this isn't what you want to hear, but unfortunately there is no ctrl+shift+miricle key cure at this time.
