Question about Computers & Internet

I have a compact home computer that after booting up might run for a short period of time before giving me an error message that says there is a problem. The screen is blue and will freeze. In order for me to shut down I must shut the switch to the power strip off and restart the computer.

Hi All, Can anyone please tell me how to stop Outlook Express from popping up wanting to free up disk space by compressing it EVEN when its not installed. I've had it on numerous computers and it

When messages are deleted in Outlook Express, they are not actually removed from the database containing your email data. Rather, the messages are marked to let Outlook Express know that they can be removed the next time the database is compacted. Compacting the message store is necessary for Outlook Express to maintain a reasonable database and avoid file corruption. Because it is necessary, Outlook Express offers to compact your message store every 100 times the program is used. If you do not compact your message store, the message will continue appearing. Compact the Outlook Express message store manually to remove the message asking if you would like your message store compacted automatically.
Compact the Outlook Express Message Store Manually Launch Outlook Express. Click "File," then click "Work Offline." This disconnects Outlook Express from the Internet temporarily, ensuring that the message store is not in use while you are compacting the database. Note: If you do not want to compact the Outlook Express message store at all, see Section 2. Click "Tools" and then "Options." Click the "Maintenance" tab. Click the "Clean Up Now" button. Click the "Compact" button. This process may take some time depending on when the message store was last compacted. Click "Close" or "OK" to close each window. The offer to compact the Outlook Express message store automatically will no longer be displayed. Click "File" and "Work Offline" to reconnect Outlook Express to the Internet. Compact the message store periodically to prevent the message from being displayed again. Remove the Offer to Compact the Message Store Without Compacting section 2 Press the Windows logo and "R" keys to display the "Run" dialog box. Type "regedit" without quotation marks into the box and press "Enter." This opens the Windows registry editor. Click the plus icons on the left side of the folder tree to navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER," "Identities," "(long string of letters and numbers)," "Software," "Microsoft" and "Outlook Express" folders. Click the "5.0" folder under the "Outlook Express" folder. Find the value named "Compact Check Count" on the right side of the window and double click it. Change the number displayed under "Value data" to "0" and click "OK." Close the registry editor. Outlook Express will not offer to compact your message store again until it has been launched another 100 times. Hope this helps

Hello cannot access into my compact computer....

Actually the procedure is really easy.
You need an installation CD of the Windows version you have installed on your system.
Insert it in your CD ROM, and boot your computer from it.
After a short time (maybe 30 seconds to two minutos) you will be asked to select your language.
Click Continue.
Next screen you'll see a big INSTALL NOW message......
But if you look closely, on the bottom half on the left hand, you'll read among other things, something like "Repair your Computer"
Click there, and after a little while, Windows will find the problem and a message will say:
Windows has found the problem and fix it.
Press the button to accept the suggestion, remove the CD, and your computer will restart all the way to your Desktop.

Hope this helps,

My 900 HD have the license Window XP home edition but d running UBUNTU when it's booted up . How do I get windows to run and not UBUNTU.

Hello scot70, it seems you now have a "Duo Booting System," Ubuntu, and Windows XP.
What happened is that since the "Ubuntu is the "Last" Operating System installed on the Computer," it will be the OS that will "Load" [1st]!
All you have to do is 'change the "Boot Sequence," I could explain how to 'change it permanently, but I will give you the {short version}.
Once you "Restart the Computer," and it Boot-up; there should be a "Prompt Message;"
this 'message' should appear in the "Window of the Boot Options" everytime you restart the Computer from now on!
So, next time "Choose the OS that you want to "Boot-up [1st]. That would be the "Window XP."
I hope this information is helpful? Thanks for using FixYa, paul7of9"

When i start up my computer it goes straight to boot manager and gives an error code file\ windows\ system32 \ winload exe,,, status 0XC000000F file missing or corrupt, what is the issue please, system is...

The problem you have is with the system boot files. There is a corrupt file and that is stopping the system from booting.
Press F8 as the system starts up, that will let you into the special boot menu and hopefully will give you the option of repairing your system. The timing can be quite tricky as there is only a very short time window. Trying a few times should get it.
Hope that helps.

Microsoft Outlook Express compacting pop-up message

Outlook express WILL compact messages stores after every 100 closings, and WILL continue to prompt until you allow it to do so
Compact the files yourself or allow it to occur

/dbx corruption and loss of all messages WILL happen if you do not compact the database,
that is why a hotfix was issued that forces Outloook express to compact

Compact All Folders

Do not interupt the process

Hard drive error #0041

This sounds to be a hard drive issue. Run a DST or short test diagnostic, this will give you a pass or fail on the hard drive. The other thing that is concerning is having to take out the battery in order to start. This generally occurs when a battery develops a dead short, but usually it's a well used battery. This is a hardware issue and it will not get any better. If you can, take it back and exchange it, RUN don't WALK because most retailers do not like to exchange electronics and the return period is generally short. I am a firm believer in Dell, they make good machines, and you should not have these issues with this machine, even at 2 years old much less 20 days. Be firm with them and demand an exchange, even if you have to take it to management. Also tell them you spoke with a tech (they don't have to know that it was over the internet) and his advice was exchange because the machine shouldn't have these problem at this point. It's still a baby!!!
