Ive been doing some home work on it since last night and it seems the best one is a seagate version, either 5600 rpm or the 7200 rpm works, but it cant be larger than the 200gb for the size of it fitting, the best price i could find was about 40-50 pound or 80-100 dollars, just google it and it should come up. The only thing is i would say it would void your warranty when fitting it as its not a standard fitment, so i'm waiting till mines ran out to do it.

My old 40 gig ps3 died, so we bought an 80 gig, but when 40 gig hdd is inserted in place of 80 gig hdd, it wont accept the hdd, and i had 9 months worth of saved games on 40 gig hdd. how do i get game...

Unfortunetly the HDD's can't be swapped like that. The only way to get the old stuff is to some how get the 40gb working so you can back up your system. Tell me what happend to the 40 and I might be able to help you get it up long enough to back it up so you can get all your stuff transfered. Another way is if you can get the 40gb machine to work the PS3 has a mode to hook a CAT5 cable from the new to the old and transfer that way.

A little more on the HDD swap. The HDD's are machine spacific and can only be recognized by the machine they were in and any other PS3 you try to put them in won't recognize the device without a format will saddly enough wipe the drive clean.

Let me know what's wrong with the 40 and I will see if I can help getting it back up so you can get your saved stuff off of it.

Every time i put my brand new (purchased two hours ago) call of duty black ops game, the screen goes to the XBOX 360 screen, and freezes there. the hard drive i have for my console is also brand new, well...

firstly its refurbished so you have to be careful because it may have had problems in the past, it referring to your hard drive by the way. ad secondly maybe its just your black ops disc? try playing black ops on another xbox console and if it freezes than its not your console its just the game =) then get a replacement and dont worry.

Console freezes during game play only way to turn it off is by the swith on the back it is a 40 gig model with a 60 gig hdd installed

i dont really think the HDD change matters.the fault might be from the game you are playing, probably the disc or something.please give a more vivid description of what happens.and the game you are playing too.

I tried to plug in 20 gig HD for xbox 360 and got the E68 error. Can anyone HELP? Thanks, Marty

Try to unplug the HDD and replug it up a few times. If this doesn't work try the HDD on a different console. If it is still not working the HDD will need to be formatted if that doesn't work it's just done for.

Playstation 3 upgrade

Yes, you can. And Sony lets you officially do that. Just for that it has a slot on the side. You just need to remove the screw and pull out the HDD. You can then replace it with any capacity 2.5" HDD also popularly known as laptop hard drives.
