To have it repaired you would need to send it directly to nikon. Unfortunately if they can tell it's been drop that then isn't covered under the manufacturer warranty although they may still be able to repair it at your cost. I would recommend if you still want future use of the camera to send it in to nikon for repair:

Thank you,

Testimonial: "Thank you. It may not be worth it since I am in Germany and the cost of the shipping and repair may be more than the camera is worth."

Lens Error fix for Digital Camera

One of the mostcommon digital camera error messages has to do with a lens problem. Some cameras will just beep and not show any error message and otherswill have an error message on the LCD screen. Some camera's will try tostart, the lens will go out and then return back and shut down.Sometimes nothing at all will happen, but the lens is the reason whythe camera will not start up.

Different camera'smay give you different error codes. Some of the error codes will beE-18 for older Cannon camera's, ACCESS error for Sony, Zoom Error forFuji, lens error restart, or just plain lens error. These are themost common camera error messages, but your digital camera may have a different one.

There are manydifferent things that can cause the lens to give an error message. One of the most common causes is keeping the camera in a case or bag.The dust, grit, felt, and lint from the bag gets into the cameralenses and causes it to jam. The static electric from the camerarubbing the side of the case causes the dirt to be attracted to thelens, which makes the problem even worse. Also if your camera is in acase and the button gets pushed to turn the camera on, and the lenscannot extend it can cause the lens pins to come out of the track, causing focus problems and lens errors. Bottom line is that you areoften better off not keeping your camera in a case! It is saferwithout a case then with one.

The next problemthat many people encounter is that they drop or knock the camera withthe lens out. When this happens, the lens pins can come out of thetrack, and/or the lens can be knocked sideways, which will jam thelens as it tries to extend and/or focus and zoom. If you do drop orbang your camera against something, there is about a 50/50 chancethat it can be fixed. Many times with care the lens can be realigned, but in some cases the jarring or the realigning, will break somethinginternally, so there will be no fix for it.

If your digital camera hasa problem, you will have a couple of choices. You can try to fix ityourself, or you can try to find a camera repair shop that will fix it for you.Because of the type of problems that cause lens errors, the digital camerarepair will seldom be covered under the manufacturer warranty. Alsobe careful to get a quote from a digital camera repair shop before youauthorize the repair. Many times the repair price quoted will be morethen the replacement cost of the digital camera. If you do a search on theinternet for a camera repair shop, make sure to include any shipping andhandling costs in the repair price.

My name is Madhu. I use the camera Canon EOS 400D / Digital Rebel XTi. When the inbuilt FLASH is on then a message pop up as "busy now", when i tried to click the camera to take a photo then...

Welcome to Fixya
Err 99 could mean several different things, such as... Memory Card, Lens or Lens contacts....

Here's what you can try:
Remove the memory card an enable "shooting with out memory card" and see if you still get the error. If it works your memory card is bad. Try another lens if you can. Clean the lens contacts with a pencil eraser (be careful not to get eraser dust in the camera body or in the lens). Worst case scenario is, Err 99 could be related to the shutter failing which would mean a trip to Canon.

Thank you

I have a nikon coolpix s220. when i turn it on it trys to focus and cannot. it then gives me "lens error" message and turns it's self off. is this fixable? your help is greatly appreciated. ...

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

My daughter drropped her coolpix s8000 camera. It landed on the corner near the flash and bent in a little. The flash would not open up. I had to bend ti back so the flash will now pop up. However,...

I had the same issue, droped camera then even if flash is opened the flash was no triggered. As Paul said I found the sensor for sensing the flash position, I made a few trials then I soldered one pin of the sensor to the sensor's case like in the picture attached. Now is working the flash all the time even if it is closed.... opening the flash is manually.... but still better than without flash at all..

Dropped my hp photosmart M525 camera

This is probably THE single most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Camera was dropped-- "Lens error-restart camera" message

If it is still under warranty , please repair it.
If it is out of warranty. Try to get a quote, it the quote is more than 50% of original value , forget it.
For digital camera's they die like flies. New ones are better and cheaper anyway.

Lens error, restart camera

the beeping sounds means that your camera lens is stuck. contact the manufacturer (canon), for a possible solution...or they can even send u a new one. My friend dropped her SD630 and had the same problem...she contacted canon, and sent in her camera to be fixed, but it wasn't fixable, so canon sent her a brand new camera. hope this helps.
