Question about Whirlpool Calypso GVW9959K Top Load Washer
Never a problem until now, and it's completely my fault. I washed two little bathroom rugs. The rubber backing came away in tiny bits and pieces. A lot of it is jammed in the pump housing and probably seized the pump impeller. How do I take the machine apart, find the pump impeller and clean it out? If I know how to get in there, I know I can fix the problem.
Do you enter the machine from the back? Or, take off the front panel? How do you do this? Thank you.
I just had this issue two days ago. You have to take the back off the machine. If you have water then drain manually. I did this by taking the drain hose, pulling through the housing, unclipping the hose from the inside of the machine. This will get the hose to ground level, and using a bucket dip the hose down to fill, and up to drain into a bucket. This was time consuming, but it did almost fully drain. I then tipped the washer on its front, and took the bottom cover off. You will see two hoses, going to the pump motor. Remove the hoses, and you will have access to the pump impeller. I removed the entire pump and motor to clean it out. If you do this be careful. I had to find the wiring diagram to reconnect the wires. After pulling out a draw string from a swimming suit, and putting the machine back together it all worked. The repair sheet for this machine is taped to the front panel of the machine. This has all error codes, diagnostic modes, and anything else you will need to know to fix this machine. To get to the sheet, pry off the whirlpool emblem with a flat head screw driver. Remove the screw and lift up the top cover just enough to get the sheet. The sheet is in a plastic bag attached to front panel on your left as you are looking at the machine. Good Luck with the repair. Also check the actual drain hose for a clog. I found a piece of a sock in mine.
