Question about Kenmore 23313 Whispertone Bagged Canister Vacuum
Kenmore canister hepa filter vacuum model 116. 22550300C
I tried to isolate the wires, get to the end of any of them to check on disconnections, but can't access any of the ends of the wires.
Is there a reset button?
It's not about the 'wand", it's the vac motor it'self that won't turn on
thanks for any help you can offere
Kenmore Whispertone Model 26512690 PowerMate Brush motor does not run. The machine has no suction coming from the Power Mate Brush. However, I do have power in the main machine.

There are three likely causes for your problem.
1: the inline fuse is blown. Take the vacuum apart by removing the four screws in the top of the housing and lifting off the motor cover. The fuse a cylindrical object shrinkwrapped in line with the wires. Cut off the shrinkwrap and test with a meter. If the fuse is OK re-wrap with electrical tape.
2: the control PCB is broken. This slides into slots in a channel near the cord reel. Before replacing you can test its operation by using a voltmeter to measure the votage across the motor. Remove the tape on the white and blue/black crip connectors and push the probes of an AC voltmeter into the bottoms of each connector. Plug in the vacuum and switch the handle to flooring. If you read line voltage the control PCB is OK. If not a new PCB Part No. 86WBZRZ000 can be bought for less than $20. If you're handy with a soldering iron the Triac BTA16-600CW can be easily replaced for about $3.
3: In my case the problem was niether of these. Remove the motor by lifting the assembly straight up. Seperate the various housing parts until and foam bits until you have the motor free. Remove the brushes from the housing one at a time by unscrewing the retaining screw. In my case grit had lodged between the brush and barrel. The brush could not move and was no longer making good contact with the armature. A little coaxing and a blast of compressed air removed the grit and freed the brushed. After gently cleaning the carbon off the ends of each brush I replaced them and the vacuum ran good as new.
