How do you uninstall windows xp pro to the previous version?

I have a computer that is giving me alot of trouble. ie: won't download internet explorer and updates, mcafee, adobe, adobe reader, so I tried to install a newer version of windows. It took that but when I had to verify it I apparently couldn't because it was used on another computer. How can I get past the verify and register screen that keeps popping up. I can't do anything, even log in.

If the copy of Windows XP Pro you have installed is already registered/verified as having been previously installed, you have three options:

1. Call Microsoft and purchase a COA (Cert of Auth) for your copy. This will get you a new "key" and will allow your copy to verify.

2. Simply buy a copy. If it's unavailable in a local store, search Google with something like, "Buy Windows XP Pro" for places to buy (I like Amazon.com for things like this, because one is perhaps slightly more likely to buy a REAL copy. :-))

3. Ditch Windows entirely. Have a computer savvy friend go to http://www.ubuntu.com and download/burn a copy of Ubuntu 8.04. Pop it into your CD drive and install a fully-working operating system, web browser (Firefox) and Email Client (Evolution--the equivalent of a full version Outlook). A full office suite and multimedia apps are included. Free. If you do not have a tech-savvy friend to ask, go to the website and request to have an installation CD sent to you for FREE.

Partical incompatability-messed up whole computer-freezes,internet messed up-wont let me delete program out-message keeps appearing!!!

I, myself have had nothing but problems when I downloaded Internet Explorer 9! I got rid of it. The best way to get rid of IE 9 once you have downloaded it is to go to Windows Update, click " view update history", click "Installed Updates" and once they all appear, find Windows Internet Explorer 9 ( Under Microsoft Windows, which is below Microsoft Visual C & Microsoft Silver-light 1, among others ) and uninstall it! It is quite very simple and IS the only way to get back to IE 8 ( If that is what you had previously, otherwise it will default to IE 7. BTW, very easy to re-install IE 8! ). For some reason, once you start using Google Chrome browser, it is best to simply avoid Internet Explorer! I use Google Chrome & love it! I also use Mozilla Firefox! Sometimes we must use Windows IE since it is the browser which came with the computer. But I would avoid IE 9 and just not download it again once you are rid of it! No matter how much Windows/Microsoft tells you that you need to download it! Hope you have your computer running efficiently again! arjay8tch (Richard Holt)

For All XP user Don't Use IE 7.0 & higher version

Applicable for all window XP (all edition, all PCs and Laptops)

Hi there,
If you are getting trouble after the updates of internet explorer..

Then I would suggest you to Roll Back it to the original Internet Explorer (i.e Internet Explorer version 6.0)

Which come up with Installation of Win Xp with Service Pack 2.

Bad Effect due to IE 7.0 or higher version:

Screen hang up, internet freezes abruptly, prominent windows crashes anytime.

So to stop these problems, better to run with lower and safe version of IE:

To remove Internet Explorer 7 from your PC use the following methods

Method 1: Use "Add or Remove Programs" to uninstall Internet Explorer 7

Step 1: Use "Add or Remove Programs" to uninstall Internet Explorer 7

a. Click Start, and then click Run.

b In the Open box, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.

c. In the list of programs, click Windows Internet Explorer 7, and then click Remove.

d. Follow the wizard instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 7. Also remove if any updates under this entry found.

If you cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 7 by using this method, try Method 2.

Method 2: Use Spuninst.exe to uninstall Internet Explorer 7

Run Spuninst.exe to uninstall Internet Explorer 7

a. Click Start, and then click Run.

b. In the Open box, type %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe, and then click OK.

c. Follow the wizard instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 7.

After you uninstall Internet Explorer 7, double-click the Internet Explorer icon to verify that Internet Explorer 6 is restored.

This will bring up you to run Internet explorer as it come up with the installation kit, which is safe and reliable.

How i remove ie9 i want ie8

Call it downgrade or restore or uninstalling , If you are having trouble with IE 9 beta which is breaking your add-ons or accelerators, below is the step on how you can uninstall IE 9. ( Check out the Feature list ) and roll back to previous version of IE 8 or IE 7 you had.

Click on Start Button and type in Programs and Features in the search box > Click View installed updates. Since this is Beta it gets installed as Updates and hence is not in uninstall list. and then click View installed updates.

Search for Windows Internet Explorer 9
When found right-click > Uninstall, Click yes when asked.
You will need to reboot your computer to complete un-installation
This will bring back the older version with everything right in place.

I need to change my internet explorer 8 to internet explorer 7 & i have windows vista

Hi,
Click on the start menu (orb), go to the Control Panel and select Programs & Features. From the list of installed software locate IE8 and uninstall it.

Restart your computer and download IE7 from here (its say's it's for XP, just ignore that it will work on Vista)

May i also recommend Mozilla Firefox. This much easier and faster than any version of Internet Explorer. Get it here >>>>>
