if your pc has firewire IEEE 1394 ports then it does not need them added, if it does not then it needs them added,
firewire, IEEE 19394 cables have a pc end that is flat D shaped and a device end that is rectangular with one side bent in.
if you have a socket on the backplane of the pc that looks like the ones in the background
then you have firewire, else you can buy a pci firewire card for any vacant slot for ~$20.00
