Question about Sony Handycam DCR-TRV20 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Sony DVC-TVR20 won't accept tapes

When I insert the tape into the camera, it immediately tells me to eject it and flashes "C:31:30" Then the camera will not actually eject unless I switch off the camera, close the side partway and reopen it so the tape deck pops out. I've read that some people thought other problems similar to this were a condensation problem, but is there any other reason? I've also tried resetting the camera.

Most of the errors get solved with a hard reset

did you try it?

leave the unit plugged off from power for few hours

Hit your camera several times with a flat hand (bottom, tape side). Its strange but my problem was solved. On internet I found maybe 10 or 15 other people who did the same.  Really works!

Loading tapes

I had a similar issue where the tape bay would not lock in and engage the motor mechanism to load the tape. I removed the battery from the unit and let it stand for approximately a minute then reinserted the battery. The tape drawer closed first without a tape then reopened with no issue. I then inserted a new tape with no issue. I guess it needed a hard reboot.

Same problem, same frustration. Just flashing, won't open to insert tape, Battery relatively new. Is there any way to get it to open to put in tape? I hate this technology, not along far enough.

Newly Inserted Tape Ejects Automatically

Usually the drive mechanism is made up of rubber rollers, belt, etc. If these are worn out (in time), the drive mechanism will slide and will not be able to rotate the tape. If the cam cannot detect the movement ?n the tape then it will efect it.

Playback & Ejection Problem

Hi, You usually get an EJECT TAPE when the camcorder has found an internal problem and either the videocassette or the camera itself has developed a problem. In you case, it looks like you tape has a problem. Daniel
