I have had success with this... Download this camera photo recovery program called asoftech photo recovery
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

If needed, you may format (use quick format) the memory card and then use asoftech photo recovery to recover your files.

This error may have been due to the second camera not accepting SDHC cards. 4GB "SD" cards are almost always actually SDHC (high capacity) cards. SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but they are slightly different electrically. Many cameras won't work with SDHC cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

You ought to be able to recover the pics.

First take the memory card out of the camera. Pictures that have been deleted are probably still there, but will be overwritten if you take any more pictures on top of them.

Your camera is not able to undelete pictures, but there are programs for doing this on a computer. You can put the memory card into a card reader attached to a computer, and use an undelete program to recover the deleted files. Undelete programs are available for free download from the internet, try the one at THIS LINK You may need to use the "surface scan" feature of this software to find files, as it sounds like the card has been formatted.

If the pictures are very important to you, you might want to seek help from an experienced person.

Are you sure you've saved app these newly taken photos on the inner SD card?
If you are, I think you do have chances to get back them all.
Here are my steps for you to regain your pictures:
Step1. Stop using this SD card in case that any new file would rewrite your original data.
Step2. Insert this SD card to your computer and prepare to restore your data.
Step3. Download a SD card data recovery freeware to your computer and start to retrieve all your deleted contents back.
In fact, this freeware has ever successfully saved all the inaccessible data of my friend off from his Samsung phone. So, I also believe it can also work successfully on your memory card, too.
Simply read more information of this freeware here:
http://blog4mark.blogspot.com/2012/12/sd-card-photo-recovery.html

Step4. Save and back up all the restored photos on a different memory card or drive in case of data recovery failure.

How about choosing a data recovery program to to do sdhc card data recovery?

Step 1. Connect your SDHC card to a computer through card reader. Then click "Scan". In this image we choose Photo, which means that we will then recover photo from this hard drive.

Step 2. After scanning all deleted photos will be shown on a list, to make sure you recover the right photo you could preview photos before recovery.

Step 3. When you find the exact photo you want to recover, click "Recover". For safety of the recovered data, you are then required to save the recovered photo to a folder that is different from the original one.

I cannot format my brand new SD card with my Canon Powershot 970 IS. It is a 4G, however i just tried an old 1G and it will not format that one either .... perplexed.

Try another type of SD card as the Canon camera are very choosy with regards to SD card. All I want to say that, not all SD card will work on Canon camera. Or if you insist of using your SD card you have to format it in your computer using Canon formatting software which is downloadable in the website.

First, promise to never use the internal memory again. Go into the menu and there should be an entry for "copy" which should allow you to copy the internal memory to a memory card. After that, you should "format" the camera with no card inserted to erase the internal memory.

Can I use 8GB SD cards in my Canon Powershot A620 camera? I thought I once read that it will only support up to 2GB SD cards.

The A620 uses MMC and SD cards. SD cards max out at 2GB in size. Larger cards are actually SDHC or SDXC cards and will not work in the A620.

I have a canon powershot sx200 IS and I recently went on vacation and took a lot of pictures using teh SD memory card provided with the camera. For some reason, after almost filling the card I received a...

The likely reason this keeps happening is that these cards weren't formatted in the camera when you first got them. However, don't do so just yet as formatting also erases the card. If you are using a memory card, take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that are available to help you recover your photos. This blog article reviews and outlines several of the better ones. Now AFTER you've recovered the photos, format the cards IN THE CAMERA USING THE CAMERAS FORMAT FEATURE. Look for it, it's located under the "tools" menu (look for the item stating the card's memory capacity). This should rejuvenate both cards, and prevent reoccurrence.

Did you let the camera format the sd card before you took your pictures? Have you tried another sd card? Its possible the pc did not close the card properly so the printer does not see it.
