INSTALLED NEW RAM UPGRADE TO BOOST FROM 1G TO 2G COMPUTER DOES NOT RECOGNIZE NEW RAM STILL SHOWS 1G.

Make sure it is the correct ram for your computer. If you just added one ram chip then try swapping them and make sure they have a tight fit.

To test the new chip replace the old one with it and turn on your machine. If it doesn't see it then it is either bad or not the correct one.

Let me know how it goes.

HOW TO INSTALL MEMORY DDR2 RAM PC CHIPS P23G V1.0

You have 4 memory slots on this MB. 2 are for DDR 400 and 2 for DDR2 533. Maximum supported memory is 2GB. As to installation, press the tabs to raise the memory stick out of the socket and replace with the new ram. Just push down till it locks in place.

2G Memory Upgrade

I had similar problem with CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

If this is your RAM:
Corsair 1024MB Value Select PC2-4200 (533MHz) DDR2 RAM, 128Mx64non-ECC, 240-pin DIMM, Unbuffered, CL4, Lifetime warranty (VS1GB533D2) Then it is high density. You need low density to work, look for one ending with an 8, not 64.

Ram DDR2

Hi Terry, you're board, PC Chips P23G only supports a max memory of 2GB. Please check pg. 9 of your manual, Installing Memory Modules.
Please be noted you can NOT use DIMM DDRII 1~2 (DDR2 533/400) and DIMM DDR1~2 (DDR 400/333) simultaneously. Only use either DDR2(533/400) or DDR(400/333) memory modules! (You should check the spec's of the other board before inserting memory that may not be supported). (You can damage the memory)

Upgrade problems

The p23g V1.0 motherboard doesn't support the core duo processor. Do not try to install it or you may damage either the board or the processor.

The p23g V3.0 support also the core duo processor

Follow this link and you can see for each motherboard the different processor used.

http://www.pcchips.com.tw/PCCWeb/Products/ProdMBModel.aspx?CategoryID=1&TypeID=9&MenuID=92&LanID=2

My suggestion is that you use the p29g
