You should be able to change it through the settings or even on the movie you are trying to view.

Why my DVD player doesn't read DVD-RW. It worked fine for many years. It can read DVD-R but since a week, it doesn't read DVD-RW any more. What can I do ?

You can try to update the firmware on the DVD unit. The most likely reason is the color (wavelength) of the discs you bought or have. Most burners (and even some players simply can not see the color of certain brands of DVD-RWs. Each vendor has a wavelength assigned to them. Most players will state in operator manual if they support the DVD-RW discs.. If not sometimes you luck out and the disc color (wavelength) falls into the range of the reader's vision. Mods are possible through firmware revisions... Research your player to see there are mods out there for it.

I am am not sure though if you are talking about a stand-alone DVD player or PC DVD burner though to know for sure.. Let me know.

Using a DVD-RW to create a video and audio format to play on my Durabrand Model 1002 what formats and bitrate do you recommend for viewing on my standard color tv?

You cannot use a DVD-RW disc on a Durabrand DVD player. It is not a compatible disc format. DVD-R discs that have been finalised (as well as shop-bought legal copies) are recommended for this player. As for video and audio bitrates, check out other forums on video to DVD converting and creation for more information. It is down to trial and error.

Cannot view my dvd purchased in korea. already changed the region setting to korea, but still no results. can you help?

You need to ensure that the region code of the disc is the same as the dvd player, just because the disc came from Korea, it does not necessarily mean that the disc's region is that of Korea's. If you can change the region code to your dvd player, simply set it to '0' so you can easily view any disc from any region.
Many LG units will allow this by pressing eject on the remote control, letting the disc drawer open then pressing 0 (zero) six or so times and that should bring up the dvd region code prompt.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

DVD plays in DVD player is not seen at all by Windows XP

Hi,it's obvious from your problem that the particular disc that cannot be viewed on your computer is of a formatt not supported by the windows XP.some DVDs are of low quality which can be viewed practically on any DVD player but as a result of their low quality and the sensitivity of the Windows they are not recognized by your computer. In as much as other DVDS play on your computer,it means there's no problem with your computer, but an unsupported disc formatt is been trying to be viewed and there's nothing you can do to view a DVD formatt not supported by your computer.please don't be bothered.
Thanks and take care

Recording

The device defaults to initializing discs to DVD-VR format. I believe this is incompatible for all devices except other DVD recorders. You need to reinitialize the disc to DVD-R format from the menu. These should then work in other players.

Viewing a recorded DVD+R on PC

I am assuming you have an actual dvd drive of some sort installed in your computer. The problem you may be having is a missing codec. This problem can be solved by downloading a VLC player which has most needed codecs pre installed. This program is freeware and can be easily found online. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

Problem with original dvd

Before performing any operations, make sure of the following: ? Check the connection with the TV. ? Turn on the TV and select the correct input on the TV to view the pictures or on-screen indications on the TV screen. ? For DVD playback, you can change the Setup menu setting to your preference menu... Alos, make sure thay the system and disc region code numbers are incompatible: The following discs cannot be played back: ? DVD-Audio, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-ROM, CD-I, (CD-I Ready), Photo CD, etc. Playing back these discs will generate noise and damage the speakers. * Note on Region Code DVD players and DVD Video discs have their own Region Code numbers. This system can play back DVD discs recorded with the color system of NTSC and PAL whose Region Code numbers include ?3.?
