Deleting music sony nwz-s616f mp3 player

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. When the player is connected to your computer you can add and delete the music files. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer. You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player will create a MP3 music file for each music track. It's actually kinda trivial but I've been given an old mp3player from a friend who upgraded. The thing is our taste in music is drastically different, so what I want to do is delete all of the music...

To delete the music files off the MP3 player, connect the supplied USB cable to the P3 player and then plug it into the USB port in your computer. The computer will detect the MP3 player as an external storage device. You can open the music folder and select and delete the music files just like deleting unwanted files off your hard disk.

Whas the best way to delete songs off the Sansa 250e? ie. "bad tracks"

The songs are in the wrong format or have expired licenses

There are 2 ways to format an mp3 player - if you were formatting the mp3 player from "My Computer," then try reformatting from Windows Media Player instead - I have a "tips and tricks" entry on How to Format an Mp3 Player for details

If that doesn't work, then double-click on My Computer, double-click on the Sansa player, and go to the various folders that it lists - music, voice, etc. Delete the songs ONLY - do not delete the dat, bat, ini, inf, or other system files

Help

The issue you have described with your portable device in most cases can be resolved by formatting your device. Please follow these steps even if you have already attempted them once before.

Please note that this will remove all music from your device.

Formatting the device in Windows Media Player

1. Open Windows Media Player with your MP3 player connected to the computer

2. At the top of windows Media Player select the Sync tab at the top

3. The MP3 player should be recognized on the right hand side and say "Your Player Name"

4. Above the player name is a button that says "Format Storage Media1.gif" click this button to erase all the data1.gif from the player

5. Continue with the acknowledgement of erasing all data on disk.

6.Get a firmware upgrade done if you have not done so...

Isn't it that you just go to my computer and delete it there?

you may have to reformat the MP3 player by clicking on the drive its listed under and right click and go to Format. Formatting is done with FAT, not NTFS. This will remove any games or other data on it too. Sometimes the reset thing might work. In general, anything you erase from it using a computer should erase off the MP3 player too.

Deleting tracks

You may have a memory allocation error. You can "format" the device thru My Computer, that should resolve it. Go to My Computer>Device name, right click and select format. This will delete all contents. Best of Luck.
