Staple problem When I go to print out a document and want to use the staple function it is grayed out and will not let me select it. I have downloaded the driver for the Sharp Ar-407, no luck, any suggestions would be helpful.

Assuming your copier actually has a stapler, I would think you would have checked that, then the driver is probably not set up to recognize the stapler.

click Start->control panel>printers and faxes>(your printer name)>printer>properties>device settings. There should be a button labeled something like "auto configure". click that and it should discover all the options attached to your copier. When it is done click on whtever it asks youto accept and click apply. The picture to the left should also look exactly like your copier. (Sometimes the auto configure fails in which case you will have to set all the options manually, you can use the image as a guide until it looks right. )

Are you sure you have the correct sorter, they come with diff. options. the same model comes w/wo staples- w/wo book binding etc.

For example : w staples may be an AOor A1 model
wo maybe an AS or B1 model

How to shrink document to fit screen size when printing

Hi,

Scaled Printing
The procedure for specifying a scaling value and printing a document with pages enlarged or reduced to match the document to the paper size is as follows:
1. Open the printer driver setup window, and select Scaled Printing from the Page Layout list on the Page Setup tab.

2. Using Page Size, select the page size that was set with your application.
3. Do either of the following to set a scaling factor:
Select a Printer Paper Size.
Select a printer paper size, which is different from the Page Size, from the Printer Paper Size list. If the printer paper size is smaller than the Page Size, the page image will be reduced. If the printer paper size is larger than the page size, the page image will be enlarged.6c3578e0-f243-44b0-aa8e-f7bb7752ed56.jpg

figure:Scaling on the Page Setup tab
The current settings are displayed in the Settings Preview on the left side of the printer driver.
4. Click OK.
When you execute print, the document will be printed with the specified scale.
Note
If the application software with which you created the original has the scaled printing function, configure the settings on your application software. You do not need to also configure the same setting in the printer driver. When Scaled Printing is selected, the Staple Side list box appears grayed out and is unavailable (when Duplex Printing is not selected). When Borderless Printing check box is checked for the Page Layout list, Scaled Printing cannot be selected.
Tip
Selecting Scaled Printing changes the printable area.

Hope this helps

One is that the fold and staple option only works on 8.5 x 11 sized paper, thus printing onto a 11x17 spread and then folding. If letter paper is not selected, that will grey it out.
