Question about Dell Dimension 2300 PC Desktop

Display Resolution on Dell Dimension 2300

I restored the system from scratch using only Dell resource CDs. Everything works, except I cannot get the resolution over 640x480. It used to go to much higher originally. Tried downloading drivers etc. No luck. Any suggestions?

    i tried to go to display click on settings click on advance for monitor to set properties will not let me click to change resolution off of 16 bit medium`

Thats really low. are you sure you don't mean under. my computer doesn't go under 800x600. Max resolutin is 1280. Are you sure you're downloading the right monitor driver, because that hapened to me before, but it was because i had the wrong driver.Nothing is wrong with the monitor!!!!

    After some reaserch i found out that maybe the video card in the computer is working properly because you restored will dell only discs. When you got the driver, did you just download the monitor driver? If thats the case, the monitor doesn't have to do anything with the resolution. It is the video card that will need a new driver/updated driver.

I am using a new Dell 3100 USB dock with two (2) Dell E197FP monitors. I can not get the monitors to change resolution and they are grayed out on 640x480. What do I need to do to get them to change?
I imagine you have just "plug-n-play" the monitors? You need to install the monitor drivers in to your computer from the driver listed on the Dell site and compatible with your operating system. This should clear the grayed out for you.

You can only restore the BIOS settings by selecting F2 on reboot. You need the password to restore operating system settings. Geek squad can break password.

Optiquest vs11201 monitor not above 640x480 resolution
You need to download the driver from DELL for your video card, my 3000 use video driver R79733.EXE.
You may have virus in your computer if you cannot update the drivers, sometime it is better to start from clean drive to help get rid of stuff that get installed into the computer.

I am running Windows 7 MCE with a old plasma that will only work in 640x480 res. I have set the pc to boot in 640x480 meaning the Media Centre works fine but windows in the back ground if i quit the media...
there is option in displaying prefs. i dont remember its name, but open control panel, it's there.

did you load the most current Nvidia driver from Nvidia.?
what OS?

On my Dell, I reinstalled the OS, and now only 640x480
Ok your default monitor is the screen that your using. The reason why it says that is because people can add more than one screen to their computer I don't do it personally but some people think that having two monitors is easier than having one. If you have any other questions please let me know!

Setting up a toshiba tecra 9100 to output with composite (av) out plug but on the tv the computer is plugged into only shows the top left quarter of the computers screen,, can this be solved by adjusting...
Your tv may not support resolutions greater than composit 640x480@60Hz

If you plan to use composit signaling set everything to 640x480@60Hz
