Try starting it in safe mode and performing a system restore back to when it was working. var fctb_tool=null; function FCTB_Init_a45a7ec7be7e4a0f96922a1bd99d8fd3(t) { fctb_tool=t; start(fctb_tool); }

open bios, go to boot section
change 1st boot to cd
save and esc
open cd drive
put in cd disc
close cd drive
shut down the pc
restart and the win program will instal from the cd
hope you are installing win10 as the rest are no longer supported by Microsoft so win xp and win 7 are a waste of time

Windows update system is shut down on Windows 7 laptop, how do I fix this? It tells me to restart my computer but restarting has no effect.

windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft and so updates will no longer be happening
you have to move to win 8 or the push is on to move you to win 10
In future you will be experiencing driver failures for what you have as the win 7 provided drivers drop out and when that happens you have to go to the manufacturers web site to get the driver for your equipment

Gateway MT6840 unexpectedly shut down and wouldn't

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

My thinkpad t43 26684du screen goes very dim after use (half hour). when i reboot it won't shut down until i remove battery. restarts fine for a while. irun win 7 ultimate all updated.

There is two problem possible for these symptoms:
1st one is due to inverter
2nd one is due to screen backlight lamp (CCFL)

You need technical support. We may need some components to be changed. If you think you can do it on your own, see http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2007/09/05/troubleshooting-laptop-with-backlight-failure/

WINDOWS NOT SHUTTING DOWN COMPLETELY

Hi,
You will need to enable the Advance power management in Bios and on windows..
Try to see in the bios the advance setting for APM.
Some motherboard you have to enable this.
Other its simply on windows.
After the installation of windows
Go >Right click desktop>properties>then select screen saver tab>below click power>
Then click APM tab
enable and restart
May be this can solve this issues.
Or else I would advice to change the power supply and see.

Alas, driver to what. It always helps to state device, brand, model, operating system in a query.

When Restart My PC My Video Drivers Disappear Graphics Cards

Some versions of Windows 7 have an XP Mode. The driver that ran perfectly under XP may do so there. That Windows 7 Home Premium is 64 bit may be a factor if the vanishing driver ran under a 32 bit XP system.
