Pretty much, most places that repair computer would do it, the only reason they would say no is that they would have promblem ordering or finding the parts for it, otherwise places like bestbuy, office depot, staples would do it. It gonna cause alot more there, if you can find a local small certify computer rapair shop, they can do also. It's just going to the promblem of finding the parts to repair it that may cause them to say no. Otherwise try to get couple of quotes for repair and compare to a new laptop should you find it that it is cheaper to get a new one.

Hello,

You can get the replacement part direct from Sony or better, eBay. On eBay just put in the model of your notebook and browse. Many vendors have a 'Buy Now' key and most have very fast shipping.

Good Luck.

Sony Vaio vgn-fe590p, when starting up the screen lights up, but it is dim and blurry. Could this be the inverter, or the lcd screen is bad?

Start with drivers,http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=VGNFE590P&template_id=1&region_id=1&tab=download#/downloadTab . Has it been damaged? Dropped, jarred, etc. It may be the monitor/graphics is going. Hard to say exactly. Is it overheating?

Restart your computer

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS then using the arrow keys navigate to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to cd press escape then press f10 to save to cmos restart

Dark Screen

Sounds like you broke your backlight and need a new LCD screen. A new one can be found here for $70.

Low brightness

that would probably be a failure with the lcd inverter other symptoms would include redness of the screen and sudden black-outs.
