Re-Boot - hit F8 till the Screen for Safe Mode comes up.

Let me know if you can see the screen in safe mode.

If you can change the resulution to 600x800 - and 16bit color.

Let me know if this helps, if not we can go on from there. Don't rate too soon till we have this solved.

Try booting in safe mode and see if you are able to see the display, if so it may be adriver issue or a display setting, look in device manager to make sure there is no yellow asstrick or red question mark on any devices.
It could be your video card, look to see what type you need, AGP, PCI Express or PCI.
I hope this helped.
Good luck and have a pleasent day.

Black screen when powered up

I would try booting in to safe mode by tapping F8 key on reboot and see does it come up. If it does means bad driver and by what it sounds like it might be display driver. When and if you choose safe mode do safe mode with networking so you can go online and update drivers. Hope this helps.

Our computer is on but the screen says ''power save mode'' and then will go black. How do we fix this?

You will have to wake up the computer, right click on the main windows screen, go to properties, go to display,
Then go to screensaver, then go to power options.
Now that your hear, you can change any settings, power saving mode, Battery power mode, ac power mode, what happens when you close your lid, and more.

Check for incorrectly set monitor display settings. Dual or remote display setting selected will result in a black screen.
