Question about Creative Labs Zen Stone Plus MP3 Player
I have had the problem of the completely dead player after having it for less that an day. No response to any buttons, no response when plugged into USB to charge, and Windows sees it as an "unknown device" when plugged into the PC. It tried the reset hole, and still nothing.
Then I tried connecting it to the PC to charge and then using the reset hole. Success - the player sprang back to life, fully charged. Hope this helps someone.

My Zen Stone Plus (2G) worked fine for ages and I was very happy with it. Then one day it should wouldn't turn on / recharge or do anything - completely dead. I couldn't work it out.
Then a few months later, today I was about to go and but a new MP3 player and I tried it - and it just all works as normal now!
Bizarre. I think I plug in a charger and it just came instantly to life . . .
Perhaps yours will come to life again one day so keep hold of it / try it from time to time?!

I just submitted the same issue with my sons Zen Stone Plus. I'm anxious to hear the response you get.
"My mp3 player won't power on nor charge. I've only had it a month. Please help it was a birthday gift.Thanks."

On the side there is a small hole, if you use a paper clip and press it in the hole for a few seconds the player will be reset. You will feel that you are pressing the reset button. My doughter had the same problem, dead to 100% but after reset it worked again.

Usually this problem is due to the firmware. When the firmware is updated to version 1.62.02, this problem usually will be corrected. The older firmwares have problems in recognizing the battery and allowing the battery to power the unit.
You will need a wall/AC charger for the operation. Plug in the wall charger and USB cable at the same time. Your Zen should power on when connected to direct AC power via the wall charger. Once it is powered on, connect the USB cable to your computer. Then begin the firmware download.
If your Zen does not power on when connected to the wall charger, your unit is dead and its time to replace it or get the motherboard replaced via one of the Repair services offered on this website.
If the upgrade button on the firmware window is not available, it is also time to replace your motherboard due to corruption of a chip on the board.

I had given up on my Zen ever working again. I had tried the reset button numerous times to no avail and all I had was flashing blue lights on the lower right, nothing seemed to be working. After reading this suggestion I tried holding in the "volume+" button while the player was hooked up to AC current and charging and at the same time pushing down the start button - suddenly I was back in business, the Zen screen lit up and said it was rebuilding library. I had all but given up! Thanks for help, I will NEVER again fast forward.

Could also be a combination of a nasty bug and the battery running out, there might be nothing wrong with your player.
When it doesnt turn back on, doesnt connect to PC and reset hole doesnt work either, plug into AC charger. Sometimes this is the only way you can bring it back to life - it should enter recovery mode automatically with the AC charger - once it does, select reboot and see what happens.
