  • garfisch Jul 22, 2008

This system has five ink wells with no electrical connection to them.

It has a removable head assembly that the ink cartridges fit into.

It doesn't matter if the ink cartridges are in the assembly or not,,still reads WRONG CARTRIDGE WHEN when I start it up.

And alarm indicator flashes no matter what I do. Any other ideas.

The system worked flawlessly until paper jam, now it just complains. All cartridges are brand spanken new

Nice Printer.

First of all, see if its reading on the computer, if not, try and hold the power on the printer untill it shuts off, and then turn it back on again. Also, you might want to check the troubeshooting section if you have the manual

If none of the above works, try getting a replacement cartrige. if the connectors on the cartrige get messed up, the printer may not read the cartrige properly. Make sure the printer's connection to the cartirdge is ok too. If you know someone who has the same printer, try the "ERROR" cartrige in that printer. if it works, then your printer needs to get fixed. If it doesn't work, get a new cartrige and all should be fine. Don't get the cartrige refilled if it doesn't read in a nother printer, you need to replace the cartrige!

The product displays a '0x ... ' error message. The exact text of the error varies by product, but it is usually preceded by the word 'Error .' c01733891.gifImportant: If your error message includes the words 'ink system failure ,' check your cartridges before reading this document. If you use any of the following cartridges, refer instead to 'Ink System Failure' Message Displays on the Control Panel (c01458034) (in English) to solve this error: Solution one: Reset the product
  1. Without turning off the product, disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the product.
NOTE: The USB cable connects to the port on the back of the product. The port is labeled with the USB icon (c01424575.gif ). Figure 2: Example USB connection (your product might not look exactly the same as this example)c01651067.gif

I have a HP officejest 6500 wireless 3-in-1 and when i'm trying to print a document in black ink, it sometimes prints in black and sometimes in yellow. what is wrong and how can i fix it?

Printer cartridges are very sensitive, especially the contact points. Reseat the cartridges, clean the contact point with a soft cloth, reinstall and perform test print again. Just make sure that there's still an ink in the cartridges...

Error light and 6 beeps upon startup, therefore the printer won't print anything.

Is the BC-21e new, or refilled?
I know Cannon brand new cost so much more, but sometimes you have to bite the bullet.
I had a Cannon Multipass C2500.
Sometimes even a new cartridge isn't good enough. I used to exchange between that one and the all black cartridge, because the all black has twice the resolution. Even with very careful handling, not touching anything metal, they still went bad.
My best suggestion, short of another expensive cartridge is to remove the cartridge, take a soft pink pencil eraser and lightly erase all the contacts on the printer and the cartridge. Look for any of the spring loaded contacts in the printer that are stuck. Do not touch the contacts on the cartridge as they are unbelievably static sensitive. If you see ink on the contacts, use rubbing alcohol and a q-tip to remove it.
Most likely though, it will take yet another cartridge with head to fix it. (That's why I gave up on mine and got a different brand.)

Have just unpacked new HP Photosmart C4200 All-in-One Cannot get machine to accept cartidges which werre supplied with the printer

NOTE: The product must be on before you can insert the print cartridges.
  1. Open the print cartridge door. Figure 7: Opening the print cartridge door c00880893.jpg
  2. Make sure the print carriage moves to the right. If it does not move to the right, turn the device off, then turn it back on again.
  3. Open the packaging and remove the tape from both cartridges. Figure 8: Removing the tape c00880894.jpg CAUTION: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or re-tape the cartridges.
  4. Hold the cartridges with the HP logo on top.
  5. Insert tri-color cartridge in the left cartridge slot and the black cartridge in the right cartridge slot . Figure 9: Inserting the print cartridges c00880895.jpgc00880896.jpg
  6. Push the cartridge firmly into the slot until it snaps into place.
  7. Close the print cartridge door.
Step eight: Align the print cartridges When a new print cartridge is installed, the product aligns the cartridge. Align the print cartridges at any other time by using the software installed with the product. Aligning the print cartridges ensures high-quality output. NOTE: If a print cartridge is removed and reinserted, the product will not prompt for an alignment. The product memory retains the alignment values for that print cartridge. Follow these steps to align newly installed print cartridges.
  1. When prompted, make sure that plain, white letter or A4 paper is loaded in the input tray, and then press the button next to OK . The alignment page prints.
  2. Lift the lid. Place the top of the alignment page face-down on the front, right corner of the scanner glass. Figure 10: Placing the alignment page c00880898.jpg
  3. Close the lid.
  4. Press the button next to OK . When the On button stops flashing, the alignment is complete and the page can be removed.

Refilling LC37's

This answer:
http://www.refillinstructions.com/Brother/B6.htm
is wrong.  It doesn't work for LC37 cartrdges, because they are not the same as LC51.  There are no instructions on that site that work.  Here's what I do:

You don't have to take the shell off the cartridge; it would be better if you did, but it doesn't come off nearly so easily as the above link says.  It is glued together, so to take it off, you have to split the seam with a very sharp knife.  If you can do this, the refilling job will be a lot easier as you will be able to see what you are doing.  If you don't want to attempt it, you can still fill it "blind".

You need a 10ml syringe.  You don't need a needle.  The tip of the syringe is not quite long enough, so I had to make an extension for it.  I used a piece of skinny tubing from the inside of an old spray bottle.  I cut about 1" (2.5 cm) off and attached it to the end of the syringe using epoxy putty, like the stuff for patching leaking radiators.  You can get it at any hardware.  I put a piece of wire through it to keep it aligned while I was molding the putty around it.

After it sets, fill the syringe with 5ml of ink.  Push it into the outlet hole of the cartridge while twisting it until it is firmly stuck into the hole.  Turn the cartridge/syringe assembly so the syringe is up.  Pull back on the handle and **** 5ml of air from the cartridge.  Then gently squeeze the 5ml of ink in.  Fill the syringe with another 5ml of ink and repeat.  You may find it hard to **** air out without getting ink as well.  The cartridge is built like a labyrinth inside, so there are lots of places for ink to get trapped.  Twist and turn the cartridge and push and pull until you've got the 5ml of air.  Then again put the syringe topmost and gently squeeze in the ink.  If you have removed the shell, this will be easy to do.  The main point is to make sure you remove the same amount of air as the ink you put in.  Do not push the plunger valve.  If you do, you very likely will get a handful of ink.

An LC37 only holds 10ml of ink, not 30 like the LC51.

When you are finished, you can gently push the plunger just slightly; if any ink comes out, you need to remove some more air.  You can damage the printer if you install a cartridge that has pressure inside it.  New cartridges have a vacuum inside; you can hear them go "whoosh" when you click them into place.  If not a vacuum, you need to at least have neutral pressure before you install it.  This is very important.  The printer has sensitive electronic sensors mounted roght at the business end of the cartridges.  If any ink gets spilled in there, your printer will likely be ruined.  Be warned.

It is about impossible to do this without any spillage.
Wash the cartridge in running water, shake out the excess thoroughly and then dry it with a paper towel.  Don't install it unless it is totally dry and not pressurized.

My printer will not print.

Is there a cable physically connecting the printer to the computer? If so, do you see the printer in Printers and Faxes?
