Question about Toshiba DKT-2020 Corded Phone

1 Answer

Night button and incoming calls

We have 3 settings for the night button-
Red light always lit - Incoming calls go to our internal voicemail
Blinking red - Rings to main phone (reception) and other phones (employees) in office
No red light - Rings to main phone (reception) and one other person's phone who is not the receptionist that we don't want to ring at.

Here is the problem-
We want to take the phones off of night - (Red light always lit) but if we do that it, it rings to several people or just one other person. (depending what is lit on the night button) If we take the phone off of night we just want it to rings at the reception extension.

How can I change what settings are on the night button to do what I want it to do?

The programs involved with you ringing are 81 ( no light or Day Mode ), 84 ( blinking red light or Day 2 Mode ), and 87 ( solid red light or Night Mode ). To change the ringing assignments you need to know the port numbers of the phones you want to ring or not ring. You can do this by pressing DN/ICM dialing # 4 0 2 at each phone, the diaplay will show the physical and logical port numbers. These numbers will be used to turn on or off the aaociated lamps within the above programs. Do you have anyone on staff that understands the system programming ? Let me know ...Mike

How do you get rid of the green flashing light on the NEC phone when there is no voicemails or incoming calls?

You have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

The light on my phone keeps blinking and doesn't stop - even when there are no messages or everything has been erased. Even tried taking the batteries out for a few minutes but still didn't work. What is...

Although you have no messages on your answering machine, there's a chance your phone service has voicemail set up on your line.  A call will automatically go to voicemail if you're currently on a call and another incoming call comes in and you fail to answer.  Check with your phone line provider to see what options have been put in place on your line.  I'm willing to bet you have a voicemail message.  The phone will continue to blink as long as there's a message that's been unheard.

Remove message of the middle line of display

Pick a spare button and label it CALL LOG. Now press PROG that button and dial 54 STORE. Ooh, it should light up. Now press it and your display will show 3 of the 4 lines of CID info from the calls to your set. The navigator button will show the rest, just keep pressing the UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT buttons. When you run out of items to display, the light and INCOMING CALL display will go out.

If you press 54 and the 3 digit number of your incoming call group (maybe 601 by default) it will follow the incoming calls to the entire call group.

Mobile is glowing for every incoming message/incoming call

You haven't said about your mobile model.

Moreover, these blinking will come when you keep your mobile in silent/vibrating mode.

Anyways, if you are getting disturbed by the blinking of the display in the nights, then keep your mobile upside down.

Blinking light & problem answering the phone

I figured out that the blinking light is for message waiting, as in voicemail. That's odd, because we told our provider we didn't want their voice mail.
The part about not being able to answer incoming calls is associated with the light. When you have a voicemail message waiting to be answered, you provider indicates that by a stuttering dial tone for the first few seconds.
I knew all this from 13 years as a service tech for telecomm. Just didn't put 2 & 2 together because we are not supposed to have message waiting. A company doing what you asked them not to. Go figure.

As for this site, fixya.com, I am not happy. The service is advertised as FREE! But in order to get an answer I was told via email, from fixya, that I needed to upgrade to a premium account. That's BS and I'm not buying it.
