Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Check for an updated bios at the acer site for your model. Download it and install it as per their instructions, it will reset all your bios to factory. If there is no update just re-install the original bios file if you have it, if not you can also get it at the acer site.

Hp mini Reset Cmos

Hi there,Unfortunately resetting the CMOS on a laptop is a difficult procedure, and one I do not recommend attempting. If you are just interested in resetting to factory settings, boot into the BIOS, enter your password if you have one, and find the 'reset' option. If you have a password and you have forgotten, the only way you will get that reset is by calling HP support. Laptop BIOS passwords are not stored on the CMOS, so resetting it will not help you access the BIOS or your computer. If you need any other help or clarification, please feel free to ask.Alex

How do i repair the cmos for satellite l500? Bios update failed

To reset the BIOS read the information from this link. Although article is about removing BIOS password the second, third and fourth methods pretty much will bring the BIOS to initial factory settings.

I would suggest getting Hiren's Boot CD and use Kill CMOS to wipe the BIOS to the factory settings.

What is the process for hard resetting the bois

Sorry you are having trouble. I think you mean BIOS. The info in the BIOS is programmed into a ROM chip in the motherboard. It contains all the info the laptop needs to boot up and transfer control to the Operating System (OS). There is no reset for BIOS. We can reprogram BIOS with a special procedure if we need to but this does not happen often. I think you have an OS problem and I can help you with that if you need more info.

D520 setup locked, cannot change boot order or re-install os

here are 2 password type first 1 is bios password if tell me about your bios password it prompt when u powerup follow procedure below

For that you need to reset factory defaults settings for bios.
For reset bios u have to open back side of your laptop then u find motherbord circuit there.
pull cmos cell on motherbord for 15 minute then it reset to defaults.
Also u can reset with jumper settigns read carefully on mother bord there is 1 jumper near cmos cell u read there " bios reset or clear"
It is on 1-2 position right now set it in 2-3 position then power up then all bios settings are reset.
then again set it in 1-2 its original position.
Then it not want password.

And if u tell about windows password
Then when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in safe mode then wait until it prompt for user passsword

then enter in administrator then if u able to enter then reset your password.
But if u set and forgot default administrator password then u should need winxp recovery disk.

hi,
check if any updates are availble for the bios
go to support.dell.com > drivers and downloads > put in your service tag and check if any update is available you can update your bios

you can also try restore your bios to factory settings you have an option for this in the bios menu as well and then connect the drive and then boot.

Lenovo bios password

Hi,

I found a homepage with a load of Backdoor passwords, - one of them will bypass you forgotten BIOS password. If you dont know your type, you´ll have to try them all out, or untill you hit the right one:

Question regarding ur answer to my original problem...

Well, sorry if this reply wasn't as fast, it has an older email account attached to it (I will update that)

Look, I believe I said before that you would need to press F11 for Dell when it's booting (ino, before it has the Windows screen flash on)
This should tell you that you have a Dell as you are booting in, but more importantly, that will show you the BIOS, which is the computers system for how to start up the computer (as opposed to Windows) which should be installed by Dell in their computers before Windows is Installed.
Basically the factory programming.
Now, as far s 'flashing the BIOS'
I't means that you will install the Factory Software for your computer that handles things like how your compute will boot...
Like CD first, then Hard Drive, etc.
Things that mostly you don't have to worry about unless your compute itself, as opposed to Windows is the root of the problem, or 'needs' an update.
Now, to be fair, it is the DELL programming designed specifically to help DELL hardware run.... But....
There is always an inherent risk when flashing the BIOS that it could, theoretically, do more harm than good.

That said:
Here are a couple of general links as I don't remember all of the details of your needs, but this would be links regarding DELL and what the BIOS 'is'

DELL OpenManager/BIOS Explained

Creating a bootable BIOS CD for DELL

DELL BIOS Update Links

If this doesn't answer your question, please write back and I will give it more attention, just very busy tonight

Sincerely,
TM
