Question about Philips Magnavox DVD/VCR Dual Player

DVD/VCR Combo Purchased a Magnavox Model DV220MW9 DVD/VCR Combo to replace old VCR that died. I cannot find where you are supposed to connect the cable coming from the wall to the back of the unit. My cable has the standard RF screw in connector. This is puzzling to me. Old VCR was simple...just screwed in cable to back of unit and ran RCA audio and video cables from output jacks in unit to input jacks on back of TV. Any suggestions?

The Magnavox DV220MW9 VCR/DVD player does not have a TV tuner. It does not have an RF (antenna/cable) input or output.
It can not record directly from a cable.
In the past you could use a digital to analog converter to record cable digital TV to an analog VCR. But now (this is written in 2015), virtually all cable TV is now digital and scrambled, so even a D to A converter will not work.
Some cable cable companies have cable boxes that have analog composite output. You can connect an analog VCR to that signal. I used to have a Comcast cable box that had simultaneous HDMI, component and composite output. I would sent the HDMI output to an HD TV and the composite to a VCR.

I figure out how to set the vcr to record at a later time. BTW this is a new magnavox model dv220mw9/ser#024837394.

Purchased it on 9/ 10/08. I can play a vcr tape ok but cannot record another program. I connected the vcr by using the cables that came with the vcr from the vcr to the tv.

Any thoughts. Thanks

Your model is "tuner free" that means it does not have the RF screw in connector. Buy one that has a tuner, preferably both ATSC(USA digital) and NTSC(USA analog)

Magnavox DV220mw9 won't record from Tv, hard to connect

check out this diagram, paying close attention to the audio video cable hookups.

assume the cable tv box represents the converter box

you are going to come out of the converter box audio and video outputs into the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo audio and video inputs.

Then out of the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo outputs to the inputs on the tv if it has such inputs. The TV will have to operate on the video input 1 or 2 if the tv has such a thing, use the remote for the tv to adjust the input signal to line in 1 or 2 depending on what it has.

If the tv has no coaxial input or audio video inputs then you might have to use an adapter, you can get these from radio shack.

You say it will not record from the tv, but in all actuality the dvd vcr combo is getting the signal from the converter box not the tv, do you understand what I mean here?

So the dvd vcr combo gets input from the converter box so you will have to set it to view signal from the line input you have plugged in from the converter box. line 1 or 2 or whatever the input is.

the tv will have to be set on the line input to view the signal from the dvd vcr combo.

That is as easy as I can put it. Study the diagram closely. You will see what I mean.

I had the same problem & had to purchase a seperate RF Modulator for $18.
But I still have a problem & can't record TV shows onto a VHS tape, possibly
due to my older TV.
Hope you have better luck than me on recording : )
