Yes, you have to have administrator rights to add/remove programs.

Log out and then log in as administrator:
First you must ensure that the Administrator Account is enabled:
1 open Control Panel
2 open Administrative Tools
3 open Local Security Policy
4 expand Local Policies
5 click on Security Options
6 ensure that Accounts: Administrator account status is enabled

1 open Control Panel
2 open User Accounts
3 click Change the way users log on or log off
4 untick Use the Welcome Screen
5 click Apply Options
You will now be able to log on as Administrator in Normal Mode

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

IS a good virus removal tool that could help me reset my password.

Don't take everything I say literally BUT I have had considerable success on a range of laptops and desktops with Hirens. If you have access to a computer on which you can download Hirens and install to a CD/DVD or bootable USB drive, then you can use the programmes to reset your password and others to check for viruses etc. plus a wide range of useful diagnostic and informational software. It is free !!!

Also the free version of AVG antivirus has worked for me for many years to keep my computers (in excess of 5) virus free, although a few other users I have heard of have not been completely free of malware, adware etc. Most instances have been Adware or Malware (both unwanted) installing themselves whilst installing a "wanted" programme

How do I log onto my emachines desktop pc when it keeps saying the user name or password is incorrect

Avoiding data loss! I often use the Windows Password Seeker, which helps to remove the lost or forgotten password with no data loss. Moreover, it is very easy to use.

Google earth keeps encountering a problem and needs to close. I've removed and reinstalled this programme twice and it keeps coming up with this same fault.

You may be a victim of spyware/maleware infections. You will need to have your system cleaned. This should help resolve your issue.

I would recommend trying CCleaner first to see if this helps you.

Please keep me posted and updated on your issue. I am here for you and will see your issues out till resolved.

Have a great and wonderful day :)

Thank You

My other laptop an acer 5051 is not starting up, it tells me that it needs repairing and that I need to remove a recently attached device such as phone or camera driver before it can be fixed but as I...

if you have attached a device remove it and then start up pc but keep pressing F8 to get a menu up, choose safe mode, then you will see your desktop and an admin account.

Click on this then go to start, programmes, accessories, system tools then choose system restore, then choose a date before you installed the driver, then restart the system

Running very slow

you have a virus or a trojan, assuming you have an antivirus and antispyware programme update it and then restart pc and press F8 while booting it up., choose start windows in safe mode, then select admin account and right click on my computer>properties>system restore, tick TURN OFF System restore, then run your antivirus programmes.

when run, restart pc, then untick turn off system restore and the problem should be erased.

The only other possibility is low hard drive space and a need to install more memory

Freecom hard drive problem?

Unless you "GHOST" or "CLONE" the programsd over to the harddrive, instead of just copy and paste, they will not open. What you will have to do mo0re than likely is remove the installation files through control panel and reinstall the program onto the external harddrive.

You need to be logged onto the computer as administrator.

Go into control panel, then user accounts. Find your account and see if it says limited user or administrator. If is says limited, then there has to be an admin account, you'll have to log into that one.

Uninstalling game trial

this type of programme will be accessing the internet when you are online, so the only way you can uninstall it especially if it is not in add/remove programmes, is to start up the pc in safe mode (keep pressing F8 on boot up) and then when prompted select start windows in safe mode, or try system restore to a date before your daughter installed it. All your icons will be large, but dont worry, see if you can uninstal from add/remove prog if its ther, if not look in your c:\programmes folder for it if you know the name of it or click search and delete all folders it finds, sometimes it's only a shortcut on your desktop and nowhere else. When you have uninstalled it restart your pc and it will go back into normal boot up and it should not re appear.
