There are a few causes that would describe the problem you having, the first is a high voltage power diode that fails, the second is the high voltage capacitor that can open or short, the magnetron is the more likely suspect "heats the food" and finally the least likely will be the high voltage transformer that energizes the magnetron. I suggest a appliance repairman or tv technician for the job.

Mircowave runs but doesn't heat and it has a load hum.

You may need a new microwave..however, the diode may be defective or the magnatron tube may need replacing,,The magnatron tube is only warranted for 5 years so it may be used up as the model is (10years)fairly old.

Motor runs but does not heat food

I'd say don't play with your microwave. These things can cause you a nasty injury or death if you don't put them back together correctly.

Service technicians have a tool to measure leaking microwave levels after the put them back together.

Your best choice is to get it professionally repaired if it is an expensive model or just get rid of it and buy a new one.

I don't suppose it is still under warenty.

GE MONOGRAM MICROWAVE ZE2160SF- POWER but no HEAT

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part (such as a shorted diode)

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel, which is very helpful when troubleshooting.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

GE Monogram Convection oven ZET837SB1SS

I would suspect a couple of wires are crossed.

GE puts mini-manuals in their units, which have wiring diagrams, schematics, etc. Very handy.

It will be folded up in a small envelope, usually behind the control panel or hidden elsewhere. That should help you.
