Question about HP VP6310 Multimedia Projector

Power Issues I have a HP all in one projector/DVD EP9012, and I'm having problems with the power. The kettle lead has to be jiggled in the socket on the back of the projector. This takes a while, but eventually you hear a small pop and the lights come on on the top of the unit. Once the power is on the kettle lead can be fully inserted into the back of the unit. I t6hought this may be a connector issue. I've tried different kettle leads and they all do the same. the actual socket in the projector seams ok. as mentioned once powered up it doesn't have any issues. its just the initial power up, is like starting a tempremental car. Any Ideas?

Have a tech check the unit. This could be the High voltage unit.Once this board is replace, the unit should work

check to see if there is a filter for the lamp, there may also be a sail switch that detects air flow and this might not be working.

No Power

The problem may not necessarily be from the cable. It has to either be from the socket you plug it or the internal Power IC inside the projector. If your socket is working fine then you may have to take it to an experienced technical expert who will trouble shoot and diagnose the problem but since you said the projector is not powering, its likely the inbuilt power IC is damaged by maybe a surge in electrical current. What will I do to reset lamp timer for my Panasonic PT-AX200 model

Read very carefully this is the only solution to reset lamp timer

1. Connect the mains lead to the projector and a mains socket, and switch the MAIN POWER on. 2. Press the POWER button.
3. Press the MENU button to display the menu.
4. Select the OPTION menu and press the ENTER button.
6. Press and hold the ENTER button for approximately 3 seconds.
7. The confirmation screen will be displayed and select OK.
8. Press the POWER button to turn off for resetting the duration of the LAMP RUNTIME.
9. Next time when you POWER ON the projector the duration of time in LAMP RUNTIME is reset to "0 H".

I own a HP MP1900 projector and it wont turn on anymore...the bulb does not look blown and it never gave a going bad msg?

First check that the plug is in the socket and the power is switched on. (don't laugh, a friend did that just last week!) Next check if the fuse in the plug is OK. If you have no spare fuse try swapping one from another plug that you know does work. Next check the projector for signs of an inbuilt secondary fuse. These are often a circular access about 1to 1.5 cm across that screws out of the body of the projector. Hopefully one of these may cure your problem.

Our HP 21 Digital projector has a green tint when we turn it on. We have a new computer and the monitor displays correctly. The HP21 is a 2004 model.

Hi it sounds like you have a ne missing on the VGA feed to your projector, try using a composite lead to see if it is the same it should be ok also you can try using the menu see if the white is white when menu is pressed if it is then it is the lead, it possible could be the VGA socket but i have never seen a faulty socket so unlikely.

The internal fuse is normally located very near the power plug socket and usually a Buss glass fuse, rated 5 amps? If you get to it, check the metal end for the rating.You have to remove the top cover to get at it...remember, the problem could be the fuse--or the power supply section has failed.--Rick

change the lead that came with the system to another one, i am not sure if it was the new cable or the step down in the amp that I used, but it did the trick

change lead to 3amp lead, seems to have done the trick with me, i am not sure if it the step down from amp on fuse or if it was a better lead that did it.

Maybe a bulb going bad?

Without doing some tests this is difficult to know.

I do not remember if the bulb in this model is a gas discharge type or a filament type. I will first indicate here for the filament type.

Make sure that the unit is switched off, and is unpluged from the AC mains.

With a DVM it is possible to check the socket contacts. The unit would have to be unassembled to gain access to the lead wires that go to the socket, and the socket disconnected. With the lamp installed, use the ohms scale to see if the resistance of the bulb's filament can be measured.

If the socket contacts are okay, it is possible that the fault is the power supply to the bulb, or it can that there is a cooling fault, or maybe the bulb itself has an intermittant where when it gets heated up it temporarily becomes open circuit.

The way that most electronic equipment is designed today, it is microprocessor controled. There are sensors for temperature, current draw, quality of voltage regulation, air flow for cooling, specific performance checks, and other similiar things. If there is an error, the uPC will shut the unit down. In most cases, an error code of sorts is indicated. In some equipment, there is no displayed error code.

For the gas discharge type of bulb, to test the socket contacts to the bulb, instead of measuring the heater resistance, you will need a dummy insert to replace the bulb that has a zero resistance for testing the socket. You insert the dummy tester, and measure of the leads with the DVM to indicate if the contacts are okay to the bulb.

A less sure way to test the socket contacts is to disconnect the socket from the supply, and measure the resistance of each lead to its respective contact in the socket. This will indicate if there is open or closed resistance to the socket contacts, but does not respect the tollerance for the contacts to make a connection to the bulb contacts on its base.

In the service shop, after all the above has been done, the tech would do his tests by trying modules and parts until the fault is located. That is if the fault was not the socket.

If you have the know how open up the machine and replace the fuse on the Powersupply board ( where the AC socket sits in )

If this still occurs , I'm afraid you will have to replace the Powersupply board.
