My samsung 61in. Dlp screen flashes green/blue pic is viewable but everything is the two colors, also screen will flash icon check fan #1

You have 2 problems. Problem 1 either you main board or light engine is bad and needs to be replaced. Problem 2 is exactly what your TV says. Fan#1 isn't functioning properly so a heat sencor is being actiated to shut down your set. Make sure all the fans are free of debree and spinning. If one is not spinning, make sure it has voltage going to it. This will let you know if you have a bad fan, or a bad board.

The image on my Samsung HC-R4755 rear projection tv has gone a little bit dark. It is still watchable. but not very sharp. Has a bulb gone bad? Can I replace it by myself?

It is a rear projection set with 3 picture tubes.

If unplugged and rear cover removed you will see top of chassis 3 large round black cylinders that are the lens for the tubes----they may be obscured with foam padding---clean the lens with a lens cloth or a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on the towel.

These are the red, green and blue lens---they are the light source for your picture--if dusty (should be cleaned one time a year) the picture will be darker and dull looking.

Check in menu for video options, Select pal, NTSC or whatever your country is transmitting. If auto option is available best to set it there. Check also sound options like I, BG, or DK and set again to your transmission,If you have a settop box make sure on other tv it is displaying coulour. saom also have sound and video options. Try to connect dvd with av cables and see if coulour is there. if still B&w get repair technician

Toshiba colours gone wrong

Yes it is repairable. One of two things is wrong. The color wheel is going bad or the DMD board is going bad. These are the most common repairs needed for a Toshiba. I hope this will help.
