How do I connect an Acer Aspire 5051AWXMi laptop to a Canon PIXMAMP220 printer?

new printer driver, usb pug in, printer on, go to control panel and open printer prefences. set up home network, should work.

Try to reboot yout computer. And try to disconnect your printer and install again using the Windows new hardware wizard.

If that doesn't work, you can download a driver here and install it manually.

You will need a USB 2.0 Type B Printer Cable to connect a printer to the Acer Aspire 3610 notebook. An older style printer is not able to connect to the your notebook because there is no parallel port installed to connect to.

Go to the Acer Support website and go to your Models Webpage and choose Drivers & Downloads. You should find what you need there.

have you uninstalled the other drivers completely and THEN reinstalled the new drivers? that's probably your problem.

Try using external USB HUB (POWERED) Adapter. It might fix this issue.
Use an other USB cable and see.
If the problem still exist do not plug in the printer again, you may damage your USB port or even burn your laptop motherboard.

Sounds like a hardware issue. I would guess that there is a bad connection between the usb's and the motherboard. If you are comfortable dismanteling the laptop and re-soldering the usb's than give that a try, but I would recomend you give it to a pro.
