A different procedure must be followed depending on your version of
WinFax PRO. Check the version of WinFax installed on your computer as
follows:
Start WinFax PRO.
Choose About from the Help menu. Note your version of WinFax PRO.
Close all programs, including WinFax PRO, the Controller and the
CommBar, if you are running it. If you are using Windows NT, disable
the WinFax Service.
Follow the correct procedure for your version of WinFax PRO.
WinFax PRO 8.03
Click Start, point to Find and choose Files or Folders. The Find
dialog box appears.
Choose the drive on which you installed WinFax from the Look In
drop-down list.
In the Named field, type
rebuild.bat
and click Find Now. Windows will find and display all files matching
your search criteria in the lower half of the Find dialog box.
Double click REBUILD.BAT to run it. A dialog box appears, prompting
you to select a database to rebuild.
Locate your \WinFax\DATA directory.
See the section below, titled "Repair Your Logs or Phonebooks" to
complete the repair process.
WinFax PRO 7.x, 8.0, 8.01 or 8.02
Close all programs including WinFax, the WinFax PRO Controller and the
CommBar if you are running it.
Choose Run from the Windows Start menu. The Run dialog box appears.
Click Browse and locate your \WINFAX program directory. If you
installed WinFax to the default location, this will be either
C:\Program Files\Symantec\WinFax or C:\Program Files\Delrina\WinFax.
Highlight the file DELFIX.EXE and click Open.
In the Open field, you should see a line similar to
"C:\Program Files\Symantec\WinFax\delfix.exe"
depending on the location of your WinFax directory.
Click the mouse in the Open field and place the cursor at the end of
the line. When the flashing cursor is at the end of the line, type a
space and the following text:
-REBUILD
Your line will then look something like:
"C:\Program Files\Symantec\WinFax\delfix.exe" -REBUILD
Click OK. A dialog box appears, prompting you to select a database to
rebuild.
Locate your \WinFax\DATA directory.
See the section below, titled "Repair Your Logs or Phonebooks" to
complete the repair process.
Repair Your Logs or Phonebooks
Lastly, highlight the *.WFB you wish to repair:
STATUS.WFB
This file contains your Send log, Receive log and Outbox.
WFX7DEF.WFB
This is the default phonebook.
ANYNAME.WFB
The file containing your custom phonebook or message store has the
first few letters of the phonebook or message store in its name, as it
appears in WinFax PRO. For example, SALES.WFB.
Click Open to start the repair process.
NOTE:
If you fax frequently, it is a good idea to run DelFix on the
STATUS.WFB file (or other log files) on a weekly basis.
