the LTS version of Ubuntu stands for long term support, the version that
will most likely work on your mac will be the 64bit version.

I would suggest using a virtualisation program rather than replacing the
mac operating system so that you can be running both mac os and ubuntu
at the same time, without having to shutdown one to access the other.

You can get the drivers from the disc that came with your computer or you can go to the website of the manufacturer. If you want to update the driver, then I suggest that you use RadarSync so that you can make sure that you will get the correct driver update.

"Runtime error '53': File not found (your file.dll)".
It means that one or more files expected by windows to be in place in a specific location and needed to run the application is either missing, not installed or corrupted.

To solve Runtime Error 53 to ensure that your software or hardware runs smoothly as planned.
The easiest method would uninstall of the relevant software or hardware followed by a reinstallation.

Go to the "Control Panel" menu found on your Windows "Start" menu. Click on "Control Panel" before clicking on the "Add/Remove Program" options found there.

Clean up your PC with the free cleaner ie CCleaner before reinstalling your software.

Check out the version of your installed software before going over the product's homepage to see if that particular version is the latest.

This error can appear when you attempt to start 4D software. This will happen if you have installed any version 8.0 4D software, and the 4D Embroidery System software that is already installed has a later version than your 4D software.
If you have a CD (or DVD) containing 4D Embroidery System Software for version 8.1 or later, install the update for the 4D Embroidery System found in the Patch folder on the CD (or DVD).
If you have updated your 4D Embroidery System to version 8.1 or later using an update obtained with Smart Update, find the update you have already downloaded and run it again.
If you are unable to find the update, or you are not sure if you have the latest update, use Smart Update to obtain the latest update, as described in CC007.
When you run the update, you may be asked to choose between Modify, Repair and Remove. This selection appears because you have updated on a previous occasion. Choose the Repair option, and this will ensure all your 4D Embroidery System software is updated.

This is a not a Boot Camp - but a cheap way to get Fusion V.2 which is the best run-XP-and-OSX-both-at-one-time program.
1.  Do NOT use Parallels software b/c it is slow, clunky, and a memory hog - this is experience speaking :)
2.  get a USED copy of VMWare Fusion VERSION 1 (this is not the newest version - but hold on!) from ebay/Amazon whatever - but don't pay over 20.00 (I paid 17.95 shipping included)!
3.  Install the older (version 1)  VMWare Fusion and then go to the VMWare Fusion website to get a free download of Version 2.  They offered this free to all owners of version 1.
Now something to think about.  When I had VMWare Fusion 1 on my machine, it literally took 3 seconds to load Windows XP (and some people wonder why I have a Mac!).  Upon installing version 2, it takes 10 seconds - and I do not know why!
BTW - make sure this free update is still available http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/

This works b/c a lot of surplus V1's are being sold cheap.  It is s totally legit option b/c the company is offering to any legit owners of version 1.

Which Digital TV USB stick are you using?

It may be that you need to download an updated driver.
