Have had this symptom from bad line cord or corroded line cord connection in phone. Also, could be bad handset cord. Try switching out the handset and handset cord from the AT&T phone to determine if Clarion has bad handset or handset cord.

My old Searily, it hums then it will start, run fine, or trip the circuit breaker in my house. One other detail, I noticed it kinda sparks when I plug it in to start. Is it not grounded, please help.

Question edited for clarity (as far as I can) and fix all the typos.

Your 'old Searily'? What is a 'Searily'?

Only clue is that you posted to Heating and Cooling.

If it has a motor and it hums, it means that the Start/Run capacitor is failing. Motors will often spark when they start up, especially if the commutator is dirty or the carbon brushes are worn. All electric motors are grounded.

All question need FULL 'make model (what it is) as first 3 words and spellchecked before posting please.

When I turn up level on subwoofer it makes loud humming noise. JBL

Try the following steps to stop subwoofer hum.
  1. If the subwoofer is plugged into its own outlet, plug the subwoofer's power cord into an outlet shared by the other components. Use an extension cord if necessary.
  2. If the hum persists, and your system includes a cable TV, disconnect the cable line. If the hum stops, install an isolation transformer on the cable.
  3. If the hum persists, disconnect the remaining component cables one at a time until the hum stops. Install a coaxial isolation transformer on that cable.
  4. If the hum persists, install a line-level ground loop isolator on the subwoofer's line-level feed cable. This usually solves most hum problems.
  5. If nothing helps, disconnect all the audio cables from the subwoofer. Leave the subwoofer plugged in and switched on. If the subwoofer hums, it points to a defective unit. Contact the company's customer service to technical support.

Uniden#tru94852 has a loud hum & we can't

Loud hum is usually foreign earth which could be water in telecommunications pits or other problem in exchange. To prove if phone or line is faulty-plug in another phone. If you have more than 1 phone in your property you would want to unplug them also and test from 1st socket.

Is it possible to completely cut out earth hum on a guitar in a home environment. Or is a little bit of hum always gonna be present<

The key is to keep the guitar away from magnetic fields. Transformers in amps are a common source. You could use a graphic equalizer to "notch" out the power line frequency. Make sure your amp isn't the source of the hum by unplugging guitar cable. Then make sure the guitar cable is good by plugging it in and shorting the open end. Then plug into the guitar to check.

You may find your cable is sub-standard, or you MAY have to set yourself up to use balanced connections if your guitar has XLR output connector.

Sometimes the grounding of the conductive paint in the electronics well of the guitar gets ungrounded... check that using an ohmmeter.

I have a low hum with my Carver M 400 amp. How do

If the hum disappears when you unplug the input audio cables, you need to use BALANCED lines to the amp. Read up on balanced lines and XLR connectors and TRS connectors. Find the subjects of those on google.

Connection and Reception

I would suggest to try another phone. I am considering that the phone line is okay. It is possible that there is a fault in the power supply inside of the base station. I have seen the supply section in the base station go defective causing hum, and or complete failure of the phone.

If the power supply is at fault, the failure can be a voltage regulator, or some bad capacitors, or something along that line.

Amp works on off on off

The buzzing is possibly the electrical mains hum at 50hz, all amps have a hum/buzzing... if you have to tap the jack lead between the guitar and amp it could simply be a connection problem, the cable may be old and internally damages, maybe loose wiring on the other side of one of the input jacks
