Open it and clean it from the inside with a air brush. Clean the lens, the battery, the motherboard, well just air brush the parts you can. CAREFULLY though. If you rip anything the DVD player is gone. Most of the time dust collects inside and a air brush can't get to though place of the lens from the outside. Hope This Help.

I cant get my dvd player to play my dvds or my music cds

I'm having the same ****... 10th time with the P.O.S.!!!
I found another posting... I've tried so many things, but this helped... for now anyway!!
Take a "Q tip" and clean the DVD lazer eye with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. That did the trick for me... again, at least or now..
Hope it works.

DVD player won't play DVD, says "load"

The unit can recognize that a disc has been loaded but can not read the contents. This can be as simple as a dirty lens or more drastic like failing optics. Try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that fails to correct the problem and a music CD will play OK, then the optics are failing. DVDs require more laser power to read than a music CD.

CH dvd300 plays music cds wont read dvds states continuously insert disc

The non-technical answer would be that the lens needs to be cleaned. This is the first step for this type of problem. There are many things that can get the disk drive lens dirty like smoke, incense, dust, moisture. Open the unit and open the DVD cover. You will see the lens that reads a DVD. Get a cotton swab (the ones for cleaning out ears) and some isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and moisten the cotton swab with the alcohol (moisten not soak) and gently (I mean, do not push hard or scrub hard) rub it on the lens. Now with a dry cotton swab, do the same. Let it dry for a minute (longer if the swab had more alcohol and it might have dripped down) and close the unit. Now try to play DVDs and let us know if it worked. If this does not do the trick then it could be a firmware issue that can only be fixed if the company put a download on their support page.

The part that reads the DVDs is defective. I would suggest to try cleaning it using a lens cleaner, hopefully that works.
If the cleaning does not work, it might just be cheaper to buy a new one instead of repairing this one.

Portable dvd player will play music cds but not video dvds

Chances are, your DVD player uses one laser to read CDs, and a different laser to read DVDs (since Cds and DVDs are read at different wavelenghts of light). If the DVDs you're trying to watch work properly in other DVD players, it probably means that the DVD laser is dirty, damaged, or burned out. Though you can try cleaning the laser (use Google for suggestions on how to do this, or check the Audiovox website), you will most likely have to get the DVD player repaired, or buy a replacement. Many of the newer CD/DVD players sold today use a single combination laser, which reads both CDs and DVDs, which means that when the laser fails, it will not work at all. Wish I had better news for you, but I guess that the only consolation you have is that your Audivox player still works with CDs...
