after you do the programing for the car you have to go back to the opener and press your learn button once. Then go back to your car and press and HOLD the button you just programmed your should see your light bulb blink on your opener after about a second or two.

Either your sensors are not pointed at one another or the sensor with the red light is bad.

hey dude, i have the exact problem. I took the black wraparound cover off and looked inside and turns out the problem is the belt used to open and close the door. if it is old and worn, chances are it doesn't have enough elasticity to help the rotating parts rotate to open and close the door the whole way.
If your door is open when you remove the cover, you'll see the belt and door-opening mechanism right in the middle of the unit when you look down into it.

the belt looks to be about 8" in circumference, and i have a rubber band holding things in place until i can get to the store and get a new one.

Make sure all the connections on the rear of the motor unit are tight. You can remove the logic board and check for loose connections on the printed circuit. While you are there take a look at the drive gear. It is a white nylon gear just in front of the motor and may be going bad.

New door openers have a different radio frequency than the old models. This is most likely your problem and you will need to buy the keypad that is compatible with the new opener.

mikey-moore's advice helped me figure out what to do but it's not exactly what I had to do. Manually open the garage door all the way. Then hit the automatic button you normally would use to open and close your garage door. The bracket slides back and locks into place. Hit the automatic button again and the garage door should automatically close.
