I have a 1988 chevrolet silverado 1500 and it wont run it will turn over then die i bought a new battery and it still dont run please help

i got a 2001 silverado 1500 and it wont start it turns over and fires and .... Put the key in and the truck barely starts due to the battery being weak. .... whats the odds of one or booth of your catalytic converters is plugged up?

that can cause u to run than die . if your exhaust dont go out , your motor chocks and coughs , than gags .

Check air filter and housing to see if airflow is obstructed.
Check Throttle positioning sensor, replace as needed.
Check plug wires, replace as needed.

First check for spark at any of the sparkplugs.Let me know if you do or not.

Hi, under the hood you will have a electrical box with about 4 relays in it. You will find one that is marked fuel. The relays are the same, so try changing 1 with the fuel one. They should be marked on the inside cover. This happened to me, and after switching relays, it was fine. I bought another for $11.95 to carry with me. Mine was a 2000 Silverado 1500. Please get back to me and let me know if this does the trick!

my truck(2007 silverado 5.3) died at red light got it started back and had knocking noise in engine and like not running on all 8 cylinders only 55000 mile barely made it back home, had to keep foot on gas and brake to keep it running,will not start unless i mash accelerator pedal,PLEASE HELP, I JUST BOUGHT THIS TRUCK

you obviously , have a drain in the system, could be a simple as the glove box light staying on, otherwise, run you car down to the mechanics and ask him just to check your alternator is working, he shouldn't charge you to do that. all the best and good luck

Have the alternator tested. You are providing a low charge to the battery when you jump it and when taking it above 2K RPM requires more amperage resulting in the engine dying and the rough idle

there are two possible solutions, one its the battery which everyone accuses when there is no start, two the alternator could be not charging the battery the way it should. I hope that helps.

I hope this helps a little, you said the fuse box panel is gone....so how do you know some fuses are missing?

I just bought a 1988 silverado also, the wipers ,power windows and windshield washer fluid only work "when they want to" I think I have a bad ground somewhere.
