Whirlpool S20b American style f/f. The fridge is very cold and some foods are freezing.

Suggest lowering the refrigerator set point to a lower number such as 3. There is usually an indication of normal setting on the adjustments. Wait 24 hours and check the refrigerator compartment again. Use a thermometer to record the temperatures. The meat compartment will be normal just below freezing. If no success then read the following.

One reason that this occurs is that the unit is working near continuously to reach the freezer temperature. Another words the unit is not capable or cooling the freezer to the prescribed temperature. The result is the excess cooling eventually reaches the refrigerator section causing the refrigerator to freeze. The unit will if this is the case run nearly continuously. This situation is counter intuitive. Freezer not reaching set point, excessive cooling over cools refrigerator therefore refrigerator freezes.

The cause is either the freezer door/seal is not closing or sealing the freezer compartment or the compressor or defrost cycle is not functioning properly.

Check the freezer door seal using a strip of paper. Check to see if air is flowing from the vents in the freezer. Using a thermometer check the temperature of the freezer. Listen for and record if the compressor is running or not.

The normal freezer temperature is around '0' Fahrenheit. If no or little air is flowing from freezer air vents look for ice on the back wall. If ice is present it is likely the auto defrost cycle is not working. Attempt to defrost by hand which requires several hours with everything removed.

Check that lint and dust has not blocked the coils under the unit and that the lower fan is running. Usually warm air exits from the machine grill in the front. Remove the grill and check for air flow and debris buildup. Vacuum if necessary.

And unfortunately if the compressor runs continuously and no air blockage underneath would indicate that the cooling capacity is reduced requiring a major service or replacement.

Hope this helps?

My coleman central electric furnace only blows cool air

The AC unit outdoors must be running and rejecting heat by its air flowing through it the 2 copper lines are the refrigerant lines, the fatter one should be "beer can cold" if not its low on refrigerant or not running.

Central air only blows a small amount of cool air out the vents. After running 12 hours it only cooled my small 1BR apartment 3 degrees. The filter has not been replaced since October 2009 but I can't seem...

I have a Goodman A/C unit APRF036-00B1. The out side unit seems to be sucking and bowing air, the coil is cool to the the touch and the blower seems to be turning. I've check what seems to be the obvious. A small amount of air is only coming out. Any suggestions?

My central AC is a York Diamond 80 (also my furnace). Thermostat set on Cool, isn't cooling. and when i shut thermostat off, it continues to blow air. red light flashing inside unit code = Limit switch...

Hi,
One of the limit switch in the furnace is tripped or went bad....
Try to find all of the reset switches and push the little red button on the top to reset them...
If that don't work you will need to take an electric meter and test each switch to see which one is bad...

Unit not cooling house below 80 HELP ME PLEASE

It's 98 outside ... that says a lot. The gurgling is an indication that you are getting a lot of water out of the air (dehumidifying). If the unit is sized just right, or just a little too small, it may be working perfectly well.

You don't say where you are, geographically, but much to the US has an air conditioning design temperature of 95 degrees F. That means at 95 degrees, the unit will run continuously. With a 50% outside air relative humidity, it should keep the occupied space at about 75 degrees F. The more humid the air, the more the unit works on dehumidifying and less on cooling.

Give it some time, wait unti the weather breaks and see if it doesn't run just like it used to. If you chose to call a technician, have him/her take temperature readings of the condenser entering and leaving air, the suction line temperature, the liquid line temperature, the inside supply and return air temperature (dry bulb and wet bulb) as well as high and low side refrigerant pressures. Before they make ANY changes to the system (refrigerant charge) have them explain what they found wrong and make sure you understand what they are talking about. Adjusting the charge under these conditions, will mess up your operation under normal conditions.

Central air conditoner unit doesnt blow cool air into home has some ice on the inlet heat and cooling lines going into the central air unit

Change the furnace filter. Make sure you use a cheap one when air conditioning, as the better ones restrict airflow when they filter out so much stuff and then plug up, not allowing enough air to pass over the cooling coil in the furnace's air plenum. Turn the A/C off for a few hours (with only the furnace fan on if possible) to melt the ice off the cooling unit inside the furnace.

Blows cool air

This is normal. To maximize the units efficiency the fan continues to run until all the heat from the coil is pasted to the circulating air.
