Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

My computer seems to freeze or go to sleep if I leave it in TotalAccess for too long. I could be viewing my email, go to dinner, and come back to reuse the computer, and the next email won't open. If I click on it, the whole screen opens up, but there is no message.

My computer just freezes up and the only thing I can do is restart it. Its been doing this since I bought it 3 years ago. HP can't fix it so I'm stuck with it. Its got the i7 chip with raid 1

Its a good pc and it must perform faster. If its slow then follow these guidelines::
  • Remove unused programs
  • Install and run antispyware software
  • Free up wasted space with Disk Cleanup tool
  • Defragment your hard disk drive

Click Start - Run, type in %temp% and then click OK.
Once that temp folder is open and you can view its contents, select and delete EVERYTHING that's inside it. It's all junk and is a good place for "nasties" to hide.
If you want to speed up pc then use PCFresher.

Monitor goes to sleep when I turn on my computer replaced the monitor replaced the graphic card replaced the cord from the monitor still goes to sleep sometimes it will start but then freezes up then back...

If it works intermittently then it's either a loose monitor data cable, loose monitor power cable, or loose graphics card. When you say it freezes up, I'm thinking most likely your graphics card is loose, make sure you screw it tight to hold it securely. The power must be off in order to be working with a graphics card. Also ground your body's static electricity to a non-painted piece of steel such as a desk to prevent shocking expensive hardware.

Sounds like the computer is coming from sleep, standby or hibernation mode. Go to the power settings in the control panel, and disable all of these options. Disable your screen saver as well. Leave the machine on for a day and see if it happens again after this. Post your findings, please...

Monitor randomly goes to sleep

Sounds like it may be a backlight issue. Try using another monitor if possible and see if the same issue occurs. If it does, then it's the backlight in the monitor. If it's not this, it could be as bibleman01 mentioned a software conflict or an issue with the graphics controller failing.
